Casually strolling into the Slytherin common room, I was quite surprise to find it derelict of most people even though the night was still young. I assumed it had to do with how tired the first few days of school always left everyone feeling.

A small yawn escaped my lips while I pulled the mini-fridges door open, grabbing myself a bottle of water. Collecting a small crystal glass from one of the dark cabinets, I fill it up with a few ice cubes before adding the water.

Water is always best when crisp.

When I turned back around to head for the stairs, I was surprised to see someone sitting alone around the fireplace, the flame dancing quietly to itself. Quietly approaching the girl sat at the black leather sofa, I caught a glimpse of a familiar face I hadn't seen much of.

But when I did it usually wasn't very friendly.

'Pansy...?'

The tired girl slowly turns around, peering over her shoulder to follow the sound of my voice. Her gaze quickly hardened when she set her eyes on me, and her lips curled into a sneer. 'It's Parkinson to you.'

My eyes widened in surprise at the change in her attitude, and my eyebrows raised in slight shock.

Well that came out of nowhere.

'What the fuck?' I scoff, confused more than anything. 'What's your problem, Parkinson?'

'What's my problem?' Pansy raises her eyebrows, barking a laugh. 'What's my problem?! My problem is you.'

I could hardly believe what I was hearing, especially when nothing added up. We left school on good terms, and she was the one sulking about the castle in silence every day. What the hell did that have to do with me?

'What the fuck have I ever done to you?' I retort, my voice cold as ice. Everything was beginning to mess with my mind. 'What's been up with you lately? Ever since the year started you've been nothing but a cold hearted bitch.'

Pansy's eyes widen, snickering to herself. 'Me? Well isn't that rich. Its quite funny how naive you can be sometimes, L/N. After all, the bitchiest person in Hogwarts has the audacity to call me a bitch.'

'I think you need to double check whose the naive one here. You strut about the castle every day, giving people the dirtiest looks for no reason. You always get mad at everyone even if they haven't said anything to you, and you pretty much just have a shit attitude in general. Couldn't be me.' I spit, crossing my arms around my chest. 'Now suddenly you want to be on a last name basis? We've been best friends since first year- what's changed?'

Pansy shakes her head, standing up from the sofa in silence. She began to walk away with a scowl, but briefly paused in front of me. 'How does it feel being at the top without me?'

Just like that Pansy stalked off towards the common rooms mahogany doors, remaining utterly silent.

'Pansy-...' I shout after her, but she proceeded to ignore my calls. 'Pansy, wait!'

Pansy slipped out of the common room and slammed the doors shut behind her, a wave of frustration washing over me. 'Son of a bitch!' I hiss, not thinking twice before angrily smashing my glass of water into the ground.
