After the night at the tower, things felt different between myself and Malfoy.

He didn't go out of his way to aggravate me anymore. Most of the time, he just left me to my own thing. Yet he wasn't ready to publicly admit our feud had started to diminish. So, instead of trying to trip me in the halls or whatnot, he simply brushed his finger against the back of my hand on his way past.

Apparently exchanging a "Hello" is still too big of a step.

The thing is, none of my friends even knew about this. Daphne had her suspicions of course, but she wasn't the kind of person to blab. She would simply smile and nod.

So, when there was another school Hogsmeade trip this weekend, all five of us vouched to go. We all made a stop at the Three Broomsticks, got a butterbeer each, looked in a couple dress stores, and then made our way to Honeydukes.

I drifted off to collect the sweets of my choice and stepped into the long queue to purchase them. After a few minutes, I dropped the packet onto the counter and reached into my hoodie for a couple of galleons.

"It's okay, I'll pay for her." A hand reached out from behind me and dropped the gold coins into the shop attendant's palm. Surprised, I picked the packet of sweets up from the counter and turned around to see who'd just had the generosity to pay for me.

"Malfoy?"

"That's my name," he said, burying his hands into his trouser pockets. I looked between him and the packet of sweets I now held. I couldn't wrap my head around what had just happened.

"I-I,"

"Spit it out," he mused.

"Thank you..." I managed to say with a half-assed smile. I didn't want to come across as overly-friendly, especially with my friends at the other side of the shop, as well as Malfoy's.

"So, why'd you come here alone?" Malfoy asked, glancing around.

"What do you mean?" I asked, gesturing over my shoulder with my head. "My friends are over there,"

Malfoy glanced over my shoulder, frowned, then looked back at me. "No they're not...?"

"Yes they are," I rolled my eyes, assuming he was just trying to play dumb. But when I turned around, I realised he was right. No one was there. "Oh." I murmured, looking around. "Well— they were here."
