I stood outside a set of fringed, enchanted gates; my jaw nearly on the floor. The path, lined with white gravel, lead past a maze of dark hedges and up the stepping stones of an extravagant manor, one made of only the finest stone.
The walls themselves felt like they could insult me.
Draco waved a hand across the gate. A couple audible locks clicked and the gate swung open. "Home," he said before continuing forward. I stepped through the gates after him and heard as it locked once more. There must've been some sort of enchantment on it to stop intruders from breaking in.
Birdsong whistled from the elaborate gardens surrounding us. "Wow," I whispered, the air fresh against my face. Leaves rustled in the wind, while little creatures like bees and butterflies drifted from flower to flower, pollinating them.
Draco stepped up the marble veranda, but before he could even reach for the door, it swung open. I paused a couple inches behind him as his parents pale, pointed faces came into view. His mother in particular was a very pretty woman. She held herself with confidence, both strong and sure; however it was her eyes that really stood out. They were filled with love and warmth.
"Miss L/N," The woman extended a hand, her tone soft and kind. I reached forward and shyly shook her hand. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
"Likewise," I said, a nervous quiver in my voice.
Someone cleared their throat.
"Miss L/N," Said the tall, porcelain man beside Mrs Malfoy. His hair was shoulder length and the same gorgeous shade of blond as Draco's. He stared at me for a moment before extending a hand. "We meet again."
I accepted his hand.
"At last, a formal greeting." He said, a hollow chuckle escaping his lips. "I look forward to seeing what the... big deal is."
"Father," Draco interrupted, his voice cold. "If you don't mind, I'd like to show Y/N around."
Narcissa gently nudged Lucius aside. "We hope you enjoy your stay in our home." She said, a thin smile on her face. "Thank you, Mrs Malfoy." I said, but the woman shook her head.
"Please, dear. Call me Narcissa."
"Right. Thank you, Narcissa."
Draco grabbed my wrist and pulled me past his pointed faced parents. Shock hit me the second I stepped past the door into a large, sumptuously decorated foyer. A magnificent carpet made of only the finest materials covered the dark floors, and pale-faced portraits lined the walls, some of which dated back centuries.
The Malfoy bloodline was ancient.
"Up you get," Draco nudged me from behind. I turned in the direction he kept nudging me, only to find myself at the base of a grand staircase. "Woah," I accidentally whispered, my eyes rotating to the sky-high ceiling.
Draco sighed and took my suitcase from me. He started up the stairs, one hand around my wrist and the other dragging my belongings. I glanced over my shoulder at his own trunk he'd left. "What about your stuff?"
"Minnie will bring it up."
"Minnie? Who's Minnie?"
Draco turned his head to look at me and smirked. "You'll soon find out."
The stairs soon levelled out into the second floor. Draco took a right and turned into a long hallway littered with doors. "You can pick any room you fancy," He said, gesturing to the doors around us. "Or you can choose to stay with me in mine."
"Is that even a question?" I asked, biting back a grin. "Show me the way, Mr Malfoy."
Draco smirked. He led me towards the very end of the hallway where a singular, mahogany door stood alone. "Home sweet home," He said, grabbing the silver doorknob. He pushed the door forward, which opened into the most magnificent room I had ever seen.
There was a dark aura within. The walls were painted a dark, forest-green; furniture made of mahogany decked against them. There were countless bookshelves, each one packed with more literature than it could handle. Inside one of the shelves, however, a bit of space had been made. Inside that space was a photo, surrounded by an expensive golden frame. I moved closer and managed to make out a picture of me from the end of third year.
I glanced over my shoulder at where he obliviously lifted my trunk up onto his king-sized bed. It was made of the finest silk sheets and held dark pillows which matched the curtains. Speaking of curtains, they'd been drawn back to reveal a window which had the most breathtaking view of the garden below. The fountain dazzled in the sunlight and there were long, British meadows in the distance. The hedge maze had been cut neatly into the sky, and there were even a couple paddocks, bales of hay inside. The Malfoy's must own a stable somewhere amidst the property.
"Someone came prepared," Draco's voice pulled me back to reality. I looked back at where he stood, unpacking my suitcase. He raised his silver gaze and smirked, a pair of red, lace knickers hooked around his finger.
"Draco Malfoy, you put those down!" I flushed, which only made his smirk broaden. I was at his side in a matter of seconds and snatched the pair of knickers from him. I turned around and placed them into one of the open draws, my face still burning.
"What?" Draco chuckled. "Its nothing I haven't seen before."
I whipped around.
"I don't care, don't touch my stuff."
Draco rolled his tongue along his front teeth. "Or what?" He probed, taking a couple slow steps towards me. "Test me and you'll find out," I said, trying to stand my ground. Suddenly, I felt my back touch the wall and I realised Draco had backed me into it. He locked me in place with his knee.
"Will you really?" He teased, his porcelain face only centimetres away from my own.
"I will."
My throat pulsated when Draco moved so close I could feel the heat of his breath against my face. He pressed his lips into a smirk. He kept leaning further and further forward until I barely had any room—
Pop!
Draco pulled back in a heartbeat. We both turned to see a little house elf in middle of the room, Draco's trunk by her side.
"Minnie has came to deliver Master Malfoy's belongings." She said with utmost innocence in her voice.
Draco gnawed on his lip, his ears a bright shade of red. "Thank you, Minnie. How sweet."
I hid a laugh at the sound of his annoyance. Especially when Minnie flashed an oblivious smile.
