Chapter 11

Dawne couldn’t believe what had happened when she went home that following night, it all seemed like a dream. She had been rescued by the fallen angel Chaos, she had been in his arms while they flew over the city.

No one would possibly believe her, not that she would tell anyone. Angels were seen from time to time preforming miracles, but never fallen angels. Dawne had never seen an angel in her life time but her father had.

It had been two days since her encounter with Chaos and she felt on edge wondering about the next time she would see him. So she went about her almost normal life, of stealing and selling. She was beginning to use the “aura seeing” to her advantage. While in a house she could see the light cast into the room before the person actually entered.

On the third day Dawne began to wonder if she had imagined the fallen angel. Perhaps she had finally gone truly crazy. More days went by and she gave up hope but couldn’t help looking up into the sky hoping to catch a glimpse of him.

Night time fell across the city like a blanket of darkness and Dawne scoped out a house. She happened to pass by it and noticed a jewelry box flung open revealing a spectacular diamond bracelet. Unfortunately there were no windows open so she waited until the night crept on. That way when she broke the window everyone in the house would be sleeping.

She was about to leap over to the rooftop when- -

“I would advise against this particular house.” A smooth voice sounded from behind her.

Whipping around she came face to face with...”Chaos!”

“Hello.”

She felt stupid at her exclamation of his name and so she turned her back to him and leapt to the near by roof.

“I’m not kidding Dawne. I wouldn’t go for this house.”

Dawne felt annoyed that this is what he would say to her after being gone for so long. On top of that she was annoyed at actually feeling happy over his renewed presence.

“The man of this house hold is not yet asleep and his aura pulses with pent up anger.”

“Why should you care what happens to me?” Dawne scoffed as she plucked a good sized rock from her pocket.

“I don’t want to have to carry your soul out of here tonight, there’s no more room for one more.”

She furrowed her brow at his weird comment, having no idea what he was talking about. Shrugging she made her way to the window, drew her hand back ready to hurl the rock when she froze.

All of a sudden the muscles in her arm wouldn’t move and the rock in her hand began to grow hot. She cried out dropping it just as it was about to scald her hand and with that her arm unfroze.

“I warned you.” She whipped around to look at Chaos as he stood arms crossed observing.

“What did you do to me?!”

Chaos shrugged, lifted his wings and glided to the neighboring roof. “Join me over here won’t you?”

Dawne was furious and instead went for the rock laying a foot away. Right as her fingers graced the cool sides she hit a barrier. She was able to touch it with her outstretched fingertips but could not move her hand any closer.

“Uh uh.” Chaos’s voice chided from behind her.

She left out a furious cry as she lunged her other hand forwards only to meet the same barrier.

“Honestly Dawne. Will just join me over here so we can talk as I promised?” His voice sounded surprisingly gentle.

She did want to talk to him but she also wanted to do a “job” to get some extra money for this week.

A hand on her shoulder made her jump and lose her train of thought. “I can fly you over, if you need help.” It was Chaos and she flinched at the contact.

“No.” Dawne said. The word came out sounding mildly disgusted.

She heard Chaos chuckle softly as she bounded over to the smaller roof, out of danger.

“Fine lets talk.” Dawne turned to find him standing behind her his soft gray eyes meeting hers.
