Chapter 40
“Why, I am Lucifer.” The air around him buzzed once his name left his lips.
“You might have heard of me? King of the dead? Ring a bell?” He emphasized the last word and suddenly Dawne shook violently in the air.
“What do you want from me?!” Lucifer completely ignored her and instead paced slowly below.
“Now I’ve told you my name...how about you give me yours?” The menace was still there in his voice but there was now a certain charm about it.
“You already know my name.”
“Ahh Dawne of course... but that’s not your True Name is it?”
“I don’t know it.” She answered too quickly.
“Ahhh...but you know what a True Name is...”
“My name is Dawne.” At that suddenly Dawne was raised even higher to where her head brushed the ceiling and she was tilted upside down roughly.
“STOP! Put me down!” She cried.
“What is your True Name?!” The dark aura around Lucifer grew making the air crackle with lightning.
“My name is Dawne!” She cried out again but Lucifer suddenly dropped her through the air.
Just before she reached the ground he brought her back up again and titled her right side up.
“You are testing my patiences girl...” He sneered below her.
Dawne fought the bile that rose in her throat and kept her eyes closed. She let out another scream as she was dropped again.
She didn’t rise up again quickly after so she opened her eyes. She was brought inches away from Lucifers sharp livid face.
“Tell me why don’t you have wings?” His eyes were red and the pupils swirled like red smoke caught behind the glassy shell.
“what...” Before she could finish she watched as Lucifer pointed his hand at her chest and made a fist.
Her heart suddenly stopped and she gasped for air. It felt like his fist was squeezing the life out of her chest.
“St...sto...stoppp...” Dawne barely choked out.
“Who where your parents?!” Lucifers sickly straight hair began to levitate besides him.
She couldn’t answer, blackness began to creep into her vision and his voice began to sound far away.
“I love watching the light leave someones eyes...”
Suddenly the sound of deep unearthly barking sounded through the stone room and the squeak of a large door opening swam to her ears.
At that Dawne was dropped like a sack to the ground. She gripped her chest and throat coughing violently as tears raced down her cheeks.
“Balan, my dear friend. What’s all this commotion.” Lucifer extended his hands outwards in what seemed to be a mock welcome.
“Angels my King.” The one called Balan breathed heavily.
“What?!” Lucifer’s aura grew extremely dark but then quickly receded.
“Take this one downstairs” He motioned towards Dawne on the ground.
“Dious make sure they don’t find her.”
Dawne’s instincts told her to run then and she got up weakly from the floor. Adrenaline rushed through her veins as she began to sprint towards the back of the room.
The doors sudden grew wider and her escape was insight! But then something stopped her...her feet were still running but she was not moving one more inch forwards.
Lucifer’s cruel laughter filled the room. “Did you really think you could escape?”
“Stupid girl.” He spat.
With that she was thrown through the air. Before she was even able to let out a scream she hit the back wall roughly. Pain in her head overwhelmed her thoughts as she slid down the wall.
“Don’t struggle. It’s easier that way.” A deep voice said before she lost consciousness.
