Chapter 24

Chaos lazily lifted his wings up, they felt heavy today. Perhaps it was because he was utterly exhausted. At night he couldn’t sleep and during the day he was short tempered. So today he decided to go and find Dawne, maybe seeing her would put his mind at ease.

Once his eyes graced her slender figure it did everything but calm him down, for walking next to her was the blonde man. He wanted to scream, he wanted to fly down there and pluck Dawne up and carry her away.

He was about to moodily flap away but was transfixed by soft laughter that floated up to him from Dawne’s lips. Grating his teeth together he watched the scene transgress and couldn’t help but move closer.

“William, you’re ridiculous.” His name coming out of her mouth was far too much.

“I’m ridiculous and you’re gorgeous.” He flashed her a brilliant smile.

“That’s it.” Chaos fumed and with that angled down sharply.

Violently he plopped down right in front of Dawne causing her scream and fall backwards.

“Dear Yahweh! Are you alright?” The blonde man darted forwards through Chaos’s body.

“I’m sorry, something scared me.” Dawne hissed through her teeth staring straight at Chaos.

“Sorry. Did I catch you at a bad time?” Chaos inquired lifting up a sculpted brow in her direction.

“Yes you did!” Dawne fired back.

“...What? Yes I did what?” William glanced about himself then back at Dawne offering his hand.

“Oh nothing.” She breathed and righted herself.

“That’s right, he can’t see me or hear me. Did you forget?” Chaos titled his head and observed Dawne.

She merely shook her head slightly and avoided his gaze. “Sorry about that.” She smiled up at William.

“That’s alright, scared me is all. You alright? No injuries?” Chaos hated the way he doted on her.

“I’m fine, just lost my balance all of a sudden.” Smoothly William interlocked Dawne’s arm with his.

“Just a precaution. Can’t have you falling all over the place.” Dawne nodded curtly and pushed past Chaos.

The push was gentle, just her shoulder brushing against his left wing. The contact was familiar and would have normally sent shivers through his body but he was too angry.

Before she got any farther he grabbed her wrist gently causing her to turn back towards him. No words were passed between them and he just stared at her.

Her eyes reluctantly met his and they were filled with unknown emotions. Chaos unfurled his fingers and let his hand drop, her hand likewise. Their eyes were still locked when William inquired:

“What is it Dawne?”

“I thought I might have dropped something.” Her voice sounded curiously sad.

She turned slowly.

“Dawne...” Chaos breathed but she didn’t look back.
