Chapter 15

Chaos stared down at the fiery red headed girl, she had her back to him “You really aren’t afraid of me are you?” He asked in wonder.

“Nope.” She crossed her arms in front of her.

He couldn’t help but let out a chuckle that rumbled deep in his chest. Incredible. This mortal was incredible. “Huh. I like you.” He summed up laughing.

“Well I’m not so fond of you!”

He smiled at her hatred, it was so new to him. Normally the only interaction he had with other people were fallen angels and their part human servants. They treated him with the utmost respect, not even daring to look him in the eyes.

Not even his father was so overtly rude to his face. It was almost refreshing in a strange way. He felt the muscles in his back ripple as he unfurled his wings.

“Come on now, don’t be that way.” He tilted his wings catching the slight breeze underneath them and glided downwards, landing right behind her.

“I am sorry I tricked you. I couldn’t help it...what can I say I guess it’s the “devil” inside of me.” He couldn’t help but smile at the ridiculously light tone he was forcing.

Dawne whipped around to face him, eyes still burning with anger.  “How can you speak of that so lightly?!”

Chaos shrugged his broad shoulders. “I did not mean to make you angry. I didn’t realize mortals were so...” He poked her forehead and she batted his hand away. “touchy.”

“I’m not touchy! And stop lumping me with “mortals”, Oh mortals are this...and mortals are that!” She was strutting about speaking in a low monotone to mock him. “I know because I’ve talked to so many mortals!...Oh wait I haven’t!”

“I wouldn’t take that tone with me miss.” Chaos pulled on some shadows and surrounded the two of them but kept the visibility. “Do you know who you are messing with? I am Prince Chaos- Prince to the throne of death itself.” He stretched out his wings to their full potential and puffed up his chest, trying to appear as menacing as possible.

“Oh I’m Chaos I can make it dark!” Dawne flapped her arms behind her imitating wings. Chaos was actually fighting to control his laughter but this banter was just too good to end.

He tugged at a wind current absentmindedly and sent it careening around the dark circle he was creating. Ever so slowly he closed the circle forcing Dawne in closer and closer.

“Not one more word out of you, or you’ll regret it.” He starred at her calmly, hoping for another outburst.

“You’re not so scary.” She scoffed staring right into his eyes.

He shook his head “I warned you.” Chaos darted forwards and placed a small peck upon her soft generous lips.

With that he hoisted himself several feet into the air and looked down at Dawne. She was staring up at him with a hand to her lips. Flashing her a wide smile he turned and made his way into the night.
