 Chapter 35

Chaos laid upon the cool wooden floor boards of Dawne’s house. Being an angel he certainly didn’t mind the cold but he was touched when Dawne scurried up stairs.

“I’m going to get some sheets from upstairs to make you more comfortable.” He heard the smile in her voice.

Chaos had been inside the small dank room she called her own and knew there was only two thin sheets balled up on the empty mattress. He didn’t quite understand why she lived this way. In a house that reeked with sadness, so empty and so cold...

She lingered in the room for a moment, his slightly advanced hearing told him that. When she finally reappeared on the stairs the air was dank and heavy with sorrow. He tried to take a deep breath but the air got stuck in his lungs.

“You’re sad.” He cut right to the point and felt the air lift slightly. She was surprisingly good at masking her emotions physically and mentally.

If he wasn’t currently so weak he would have rushed to her put his arms around her small frame and take all the pain away.

She urged him to sleep but as he turned to rest on his side he knew he wouldn’t be able to.

She was wearing a deep green blouse with tight fitting pants, her hair: wild. Dawne was so unguarded in this current state he wanted to just stare at her for hours.

“Just for a little while, alright?” Her light green eyes locked with his as she came to rest upon the floor.

“I’ll try...” He lied as he watched her prop her arm under her red hair.

They were feet apart and frankly it was too far away for him. Something happened between them in the past couple of days. The distance apart and the kiss turned everything upside down in his mind.

Now every moment she wasn’t near felt dark and he was so tired of darkness...

“Are you cold?” He couldn’t help but ask her. Truly the blankets on him were worthless since his core temperature was so much higher than mortals. But...being honest with himself....he wanted to be the one to provide her with warmth.

“A little.” She mumbled making his heart beat speed up.

“Here, come here...it’s not fair for me to hog all the blankets.” Chaos hoped she couldn’t catch the anticipation in his voice.

He watched mesmerized as she scooted across the floor towards him. Every fiber of his being said to throw his arms around her and pull her close to his chest. But he resisted.

Instead he rippled his back muscles and urged his weak wing to lift majestically off the ground. He watched as Dawne expression flickered between fright, longing and perhaps excitement.

It was well known among angels that mortals loved the feel of wings on their bodies. It’s a rare treat if an angel allows their wings to be touched at all. Truly it was far too personal a thing, almost like casually touching someones hair. “No...” Chaos thought lazily, hair doesn’t have this much feeling.

Each feather had tingling nerve endings, each touch could either make you squirm in disgust or drown you in pleasure. When Dawne touched his wings he experienced the latter.

He hovered his left wing over her body and paused just to torment her “do you mind?” He couldn’t quite keep the sensual tone out of his voice.

“No. no.” Her response was so frazzled and quick, he chuckled internally at her nervousness.

His eyes never left her face as he purposefully trailed his longest feather upon her back. Dawne shivered slightly and Chaos closed his eyes revealing in the feeling.

Ever so slowly he covered her body, letting each and every silky feather brush against her heated flesh.

“It’s so warm!” She blurted out, still sounding nervous or uncomfortable.

This time he chuckled out loud, deep in his throat contentedly. She shifted slightly beneath his wing sending ripples of sensation out in every direction.

Dawne lay still for a few minutes while Chaos kept his eyes closed, trying to control himself. But then curiosity must have hit her again because she brought her hands up.

The backs of her slender fingers brushed down his dirty feathers and his breath caught in his throat. It was like nothing else he had ever experienced.

“incredible.” he heard her whisper softly to herself.

Dawne trailed her fingers back and forth and this time it was Chaos’s turn to shiver. He felt her hands turn over and her palms made contact. The added warmth and contact caused him to audibly gasp aloud.

Quickly he grasped her hands beneath his wing “You are making it very difficult for me to sleep...”

Chaos didn’t even have to open one eye to know she was blushing.
