So, she saved a helpless child, it was off instinct.
She was no hero, and she knew that. She never expected to be treated like one either.
And she wasn't...

AFTER I MANAGED to miraculously fall asleep, my mind was buzzing with what would happen tonight.
It makes no sense why he would make me go on a date with him.
It's most likely to distract me from the fact that he's obviously lying about not having a Marcus working here.
That's it.
Ugh- let's focus on less pressing matters, things that don't make me feel like I'll have a panic attack at the mere mention of them.
Today during Juniors studies he told me tomorrow was 'Blue Day'.
"What's Blue Day?" I ask as I put the blueberry muffin in my mouth.
It was a lunch break time and he wanted to eat something super sweet, per usual. I convinced him otherwise.
"It's a day where everyone here has to wear blue!" He responded cheerfully.
"Why?"
"Because blue was my mommas favorite color." He said as he stuffed a couple of chocolate chip chunks in his mouth, disregarding the rest of the muffin.
I froze as I looked at him.
"Wh-" I was cut off by the screeching noise that could only be recognized as Alice's voice full of excitement.
"ROYAL!" She shouted as she entered the room.
"Hello Alice." I politely greet. She waves it off and pulls me into a hug.
"Call me mom." She whispered into the hug. My eyes widened in confusion as we pulled away.
"I heard you have a date with my son tonight!" She giggled. I tilted my head to the side, my face twisting with more confusion.
"Where'd you hear that?" I asked as she walked around me and into the kitchen, rummaging through the fridge.
She turned around and held a gallon of orange juice and a sly smirk on her face.
"Oh, just through the grape vine.." She mumbled, still holding the same smirk.
"Right, well, I didn't have much of a choice." I reply cooly.
"Ah, don't fret. My son might come off as a little pushy and well... distant." She tried to reason. "But when it comes to it, he'll make it worth your while."
I cringed as she winked at me.
"Okay, that's enough grown up interaction for a while." I say lowly as I turn to an oblivious Junior. "C'mon, back to work we go."
"Aw!"
•••••••••
"Hey, tell me more about Blue Day." I spoke up as Junior finished filling up his picture.
"It's a day where everyone wears blue. Because my momma liked blue." He subconsciously replied as he continued to draw.
The sudden talk about his mother shocked me. Since I came here I haven't heard much about his mom, hell I haven't heard much about his dad.
By his casual tone I don't have anything to go on that she's dead, probably just out of the picture.
"Okay. I'll make sure to look my best in blue." I said with a smile as I pat his head. "I don't think I can pull off blue though.."
"You can pull off anything." He says as he pats me back.
"Thanks."
"Mhm! Wanna draw with me?" He held out multiple crayons and I shrugged.
"Okay but I'm not the best artist, don't judge me."
He giggled as I stared to draw.
"Is that a dog?" He questioned as he looked at my broken drawing.
"...it's a house."

By the time the sun was getting ready to set, I had Junior washed up and tucked into bed when it was his bedtime.
As I walked to my room, the thoughts I had buried for the day resurfaced.
I'm having dinner with Prince tonight.
Hopefully he had forgotten or cancels on me. I don't think I can be alone with that man for a whole night.
He is undeniably handsome, but he's emotionally unavailable. Plus he disregards Junior as if he was just some random kid and he's lying to me about Marcus.
I sighed as I turned into the corridor of my room. As I walked down the hall, a small yet familiar figure emerged from my room.
"Vivian?" I questioned out loud as I approached her.
Her hand was still in the doorknob as she was still in the process of closing it. Her face showed of pure shock and guilt.
"What were you doing in my room?" I asked as I glanced at her hands. The old scars seemed to have heald up.
"Ma'am, oh my, you scared me." She commented nervously. I quirked a brow as I waited for her answer.
"I was instructed to..set down the dress you'll be wearing tonight." She said smoothly.
She was lying to me.
The barely visible sweat that trickled down her forehead and her shaken left hand were evident signs of this.
"Okay, thanks I guess." I say. She nods her head and quickly rushed down the hall.
I watched as she disappeared.
She's lying, but why? And about what?
I pushed open the door and saw a black dress draped on my bed.

It was a classic, smooth off the shoulders dress. On the floor rested silver heels that matched.
"I gotta admit, the mans got style." I mumble as I run my hands down the dresses surface.
I looked up at the clock and saw it was a quarter past nine. I had forty-five minutes to get ready?
