THE WET CLOTH gently rubbed at my skin, the coolness of it making me feel something.

"I am sorry, bella. I knew she would have done something like that but I never expected her to jump at you." Prince said soothingly as he wiped at my skin.

I simply stared at him, my mouth slightly agape as, I imagine, I looked at him with a dazed looked.

Was I in shock?

I couldn't speak, could barely move- it even felt hard to breath.

Prince silently continued cleaning my face, and once the rag became too dirty he would dip it in the bowl to clean and squeeze out.

The next time he did it my eyes followed. I watched as he dipped the stained cloth in the bowl, the water turning a murky red-ish color, before he squeezed it once more. The fall of the excess water seemed to captivate me as I watched it rain into the bowl.

Prince took the rag, and once more, began wiping away the dried blood on my face.

"I am sorry, amore mio."

•••••

Once Prince had finished clean off my face I decided to take a bath. He insisted he would help me, most likely worried I would do something to myself, but I reassured him I would be fine.

I ran the water for longer than necessary but all I could do was stare at the rushing liquid.

I had been sat in the tub, knees to my chest, for a while now. My mind was constantly timing everything I did but I couldn't measure how long I had been here.

I couldn't move; I didn't want to move. I felt safe here, in this tub. It was nice and warm and safe.

I sighed, leaning my head back and against the edge of the tub. I stared at the ceiling for a moment before my eyes drifted close.

Maybe what was wrong with me was exhaustion? I have been moving around all day and a lot has happened, plus carrying two babies can take its toll.

The water moved from my shoulders to my neck and then to just under my chin. It was peaceful.

I was staring at the back of my eyelids, staring into complete darkness, before my mind wandered to earlier in the day.

It was Noelle. She had just launched at me and before I could react, two loud shots filled the room. In an instant she had blood spewing from her chest, on her left side just above her heart, and then in her head, right between her brows.

Those were the first shots that hit her, the next dozen or so came from the guards once they realized she was attacking. They riddled the rest of her body with bullets, the backlash of blood flying on me and Vincenzo.

Once she finally hit the ground I was frozen. I was covered in her blood. My eyes were wide and my hands began shaking. I had looked to Vincenzo and he pulled out a hanker chief, wiping at his eyes and mouth.

He seemed so calm. They all did.

All I could do was sit there, frozen, and stare at her lifeless body. Her face was covered by so much blood and pierced by so many bullets, I could barely make out her last expression.

My eyes squeezed at the memory, my face scrunching in dismay before I opened my eyes. I took a deep breath in and out, trying to calm myself.

I sighed just before a knock on my bathroom door caught my attention. I looked at it, sulking back into the water before calling out.
