_______________________________Knock, knock, knock.
My knuckles hit the wooden door, making the sound echo into the abandoned hallway.
I quickly found the door she was talking about. It wasn't like the other rooms I was thrown into or slept in. This one emitted a dangerous aura.
And here I am, holding a plate of eggs, French toast, and bacon in front of it.
My body shook as I heard the thick voice of the man I was currently dreading to see.
"Come in."
The plate and its contents shook as I reached for the doorknob, my heartbeat racing at inhumane speeds.
I calmed myself down when the door creaked open, revealing a tidy room. At the far end held a seated Prince. He was looking down to the desk he was sitting at with a black pen in his grasp.
It moved elegantly along the white sheet of paper that had been filled up with similar black ink but stopped as I approached him. He didn't move his head up but looked at the paper blankly.
Eventually, his eyes slowly trailed up my body. I shifted as I looked to the side before speaking.
"I was told you wanted me to bring this to you?" I muttered as I held out the plate. His eyes met mine before looking at the plate.
"Set it down." He answered. I did as told before trying to leave. I took one step back before I was stopped.
"Where are you going." He asked. Although it didn't come out as a question.
"Um, I'm supposed to be watching your kid." I said as I looked into his eyes. They were filled with amusement.
"Sit." He ordered. I bit on my lip as I took the seat that sat across from him. I felt a little bit safer knowing that the desk was between us but it wasn't as reassuring as I'd like.
"Do you like it?" He asked as he slid the plate to the edge of the desk.
He better not waste that food- I took my time making it.
"Like what?" I leaned back in the black leathered chair, crossing one leg over the other, getting comfortable.
When he spoke he wasn't as scary. It was when he was silent you had to worry about.
"The outfit I picked out." He said as he looked down at my legs then to my chest, where the coat wasn't covering.
"No. I don't." I admit.
I wasn't ashamed of my body, not one bit. But if I were to ever wear something like this, it'd be because I wanted to. Not because I was forced.
"Really? I think it looks good on you." He smirked.
"Well, it's not like I'd ask you to walk around shirtless because 'I'd think it'd look good on you'." I emphasized.
"Is that a request?"
I looked at him in shock and my cheeks warmed up. Whatever confidence I had to speak up like that shriveled up.
"That's not funny." I mutter under my breath as I look away.
"This is all?" His voice asked so I looked back up. He was looking at the plate of breakfast he had moved earlier.
"Was I supposed to make more?" I asked as I looked at the plate then back at him.
"If I'm going to eat breakfast, I need something to drink." He stated. He looked back at me and I noticed something.
He wasn't as hostile as he was when we first met. His posture was completely differently and his tone, although could be switched up at any given moment, was the most playful I've heard it.
"You have maids here don't you?" I quipped back.
He gave me a chuckle as he slid the plate to his side, slowly picking up the fork. "Did you eat?"
"Why does it matter?" I ask. He dug the fork in the eggs, the fork making a short scraping sound as it pierced through the other side of the soft eggs, meeting the plate.
Instead of answering my question, he broke off a piece and placed it in his mouth. I looked down to the floor as he slid the fork out of his mouth, not breaking eye contact with me.
"Um." I spoke as I tried to change the topic. I remembered what Junior told me and I have to actually know if it's true or not. "Junior told me something."
"Yeah, what was that?" He queried as he put the fork down, giving my his undeviated attention.
"He told me that his old nanny only gave him toast and water for breakfast." I said as I looked at his features for a reaction. "Is that true."
"He told you this?" He asked. His tone and face didn't tell me as much as I'd like but from what I saw, he had no idea.
"Yeah. So, is it true?" I ask. Now that it's my job to care for him, I want to make sure he's happy and safe.
"I don't know." He said in a lower voice.
I stared at him, obviously not convinced. He did, after all, have dozens of cameras set up around his house.
"How could you not know?" I question further.
A knock on the door interrupted whatever response he would have given me. It opened and the blonde guy from before appeared.
Aidan.
"Boss, Miss Queen, the young master is done with his breakfast." He announced as he glanced at me then at Prince.
"Oh, okay." I say as I look at Prince. His face looked slightly relieved that this conversation was coming to an end.
As I walked past Aidan, he slightly nodded and I smiled.
"Thank you."
