Birthday & Hormones
______________________________"I'M OKAY, I swear." Alice tries to assure. It was no use, though, everyone disregarded her words.
"Ma, you're not okay! You're the exact opposite actually!" Liam exclaimed, tears of his own running down his face, his eyes a faded red.
Annabella, Liam, Aidan, Tiana, Lincoln, Prince, Junior, Apolline, Vincenzo, and I were all crowded around Alice in the living room. The only people who weren't here, basically, was Mateo and Eden.
After a few more hours of talking about it, Prince and I decided what date we would have the wedding. But before we could tell anyone, Alice had called a 'Family Meeting' and everyone was gathered together. Here, Alice broke the news.
The two other Martinez siblings sat silently, sad looks on their faces as they registered the news their own way. Which, unlike Liam, was done quietly. Aidan rubbed his back comfortingly, his own eyes red.
"Liam, I'm truly fine. I feel better than I should, actually." Alice claimed.
I stared at her, her elegant features still intact and just as entrancing as possible. The only difference in her appearance was that her hair was slightly thinner than before and her skin was paler than usual.
She sat across from me, Lincoln and Annabella on her left side and Liam, Tiana, and Aidan on her right side. Prince sat beside me and Junior sat on the floor in front of us with Polly, playing and completely unaware of what was happening.
What was surprising, though, was when Vincenzo suddenly appeared. He was positioned behind Alice, standing behind the couch as he looked at his wife in complete adoration.
His eyes were completely dry, though. While everyone else's eyes were drowned in tears, his were as dry as the desert.
He's probably cried himself dry.
"W-what is we had a party?" Annabella suggested, her voice laced with sadness.
"A party for her dying? Are you fucking stupid?" Lincoln patronized, wiping tears from his eyes.
Annabella looked down, everyone looking at her. Before anyone could comfort her, she broke down into tears.
"Mammina, we can't do this without you," Annabella sobbed, reaching over Lincoln to grapple onto her mother. "we can't function without your guidance, you can't leave us yet!"
Although nobody said anything, we all internally agreed. Alice was a rock, more so for others, but her impact was as great for everyone.
As Alice comforted her only daughter, I felt Prince tense beside me. I glanced at him, his eyes trained on the ground and jaw clenched.
"Prince," I whisper as I land a hand on his arm, grabbing his attention. He doesn't move or make any indication that he heard me. "Prince?"
"Now." He stated clearly, his voice void of emotion. My eyebrows raise at his words. He turns to me, eyes boring into my soul. "Now, please."
Once I realized what he wanted I nodded, sliding my hand from his arm to his hand, rubbing it comfortingly. He wanted me to tell them the news as a way to change the topic.
Since I've met both Prince and Alice, I could tell the two have had a unique bond. Prince is close to his mother so undoubtedly hearing this news would form cracks in his usually sarcastic, tough demeanor.
I turned my attention back to the group, to see Liam and Annabella both crying and sobbing in the lap of their mother. I bit my lip, taking a deep breath before attempting to grab their attention.
