"THERE WAS JUST so much of it. Are you sure she's not injured?" A familiar muffled voice questioned, the faint sound of an irritating buzzing noise sounding in my ears at the same time.

My eyes slowly pried open, deja vu hitting me as blinding lights filled my vision. I quickly shut them, barely shifting my body as I tried to look around my surroundings.

I was placed on a plush bed, half my body covered as the sheet was tucked under my arms. The room seemed familiar, my mind too dazed to try and recall where I had seen it before.

The stiff feeling in my body didn't go unnoticed but as a new voice spoke, my attention went to him.

"Don't touch, Aidan." Leonardo scolded, the name and voice making me internally smile. "We just got her cleaned up, she's in a fragile state."

"Right, sorry." He responded.

The room went still for a long moment, the shuffling of tubes and medical equipment from one end of the room allowed me to conclude that Leonardo was there.

"Do you know what happened to her?" Leo questions, still tinkering with his tools. A sigh came from the opposite end of the room, Aidan speaking up moments after.

"The guard just said that when he went to start his shift she was there, just laying on the ground and barely conscious." He answered. "We think Elizabeth is involved somehow. The Don had her brought to the basement."

A short whistle left Leonardo.

"How'd Tommy feel about that?" He asked.

"She was more than delighted to help any way she could." Aidan quirked, a small laugh leaving his lips.

"I bet."

A few more minutes of light chatter between the two lulled me to sleep, my throat too dry and body too stiff to make an attempt to speak or move. I was barely able to keep my eyes open for more than a few seconds at a time.

The next time my eyes opened was involuntary, my eyelids lifting as a staggering pain coursed through my arm and shoulder.

The first thing I saw when they opened, ignoring how badly I wanted to express my pain, was a bundle of brown locks and light green eyes.

"Adonis be careful not to wake her, she needs rest." A deep voice said, my eyes widening once more as I glanced at its origin.

I nearly fainted when I saw the man I hadn't seen, in what felt like ages, standing there.

He sat in an armchair that was positioned besides my bed, his eyes carefully trained on Junior as he tried to gently wiggle himself next to me.

"I know, papa." The small voice said as his head snuggled into my arm.

A smile graced my cracked lips as Prince's eyes trailed from his son to my face, his eyes widening once he looked away and back at me.

"Royal, you're awake," He said softly, gently taking my hand in his as he stared down at me. "thank God you're awake."

Junior's head peeked upwards, his unbrushed hair poking my cheek as he gasped a giddy gasp and squealed.

"Mammina, mammina you're okay!" He exclaimed, lunging at my body and squeezing me a little too hard into a hug.

As Junior embraced me, I could make eye contact with Prince again, finally noticing his red rimmed and baggy eyes. His disheveled hair and unkept clothes caught me off guard.
