Lean & Wave
_______________________________WE SAT BESIDES each other in the car ride to the restaurant. He remained silent, as if I wasn't even there.
Maybe I was imagining the moment I thought we shared? That would make the most sense.
A few seconds into the car ride, his phone dinged and he's been on it ever since. The silent taps of his fingers hitting the screen at a rapid pace have been irritating me nonstop.
"Prince!" I suddenly shouted in the empty car, feeling the heat swallow my cheeks as I realized how quiet it had been besides his tapping.
"Yes Royal?" He asked as he lowered his phone. He showcased a small smirk, as if waiting for me to speak up.
"You invited me to dinner, right? So you should be talking to me." I say as I look at him. I snatched his phone from his grasp. "Or else I might as well go back home and sleep til morning."
He didn't try to take his phone back, he seemed content with me having it. I placed it on my other side and out of his reach.
"Very well, what do you want to talk about?" He asked as he stared into my eyes.
"Marcus." I state. His gaze faltered as he looked down then back up at me in less than a nanosecond. "Who is he?"
"Next question."
"Do you know where he is?" I asked instead.
"Pass." He replied nonchalantly. I groaned as he evaded my questions.
"Start with something easier." Was the small amount of advice his voice gave me. I looked up at him and smiled.
"What days do I get off?" I asked as I leaned in closer to his leaned back figure.
"Sunday's."
"What's my pay?" I asked next. These minor questions will open a new path for me, allowing me to get the answers I need.
"What do you want it to be?" He asked seriously as he leaned forward. Our faces inches apart as he leaned in closer, making my breath hitch.
His eyes narrowed in on my lips, and mine on his. The gap was coming to a close until we felt the light jostle of the car coming to a stop.
"Erano qui." Announced the driver. Prince's eyes moved from my lips to my eyes. He smirked as he moved up and kissed my forehead. (Translation: We're here.)
"Next time, bambina." He whispered as he pulled away and opens the car door. I froze as I watched him exit the car, holding out a hand for me.
"Come." He said in a soothing yet demanding voice. It was enough to snap me out of my momentary pause seeing as I placed my hand in his as he gently pulled me out.
He put his hand on the small of my back as he guided us away from the car. The driver drove off, leaving me and Prince standing there together.
The next thing I know, we're walking up to the glass door of an amazing restaurant. He holds open the door for me, allowing me to walk in before him.
"Ah, Mr. Martinez, welcome back!" A tall, slender man squeaked in surprise when he saw us. "And who do we have here?"
He eyes me, looking me up and down. I wrapped my arms around myself as I shifted uncomfortably.
"Rob, don't be such a creep!" A new voice shouted. The man, Rob, jumped up as his face paled at the feminine voice.
"Wh- I'm not a creep!" He defended as he scowled at the woman. He turned back to me and frowned. "Am I creepy?!"
I scooted back, my body hitting against Prince's chest. I looked up at him and gave him a look that said 'help me'.
He sighed before looking at the two.
"Rob, Sarah, that's enough." He spoke. They piped down and looked at us.
"Right, sorry dear." She mumbled humbly. She approached me and took my hand, shaking it. "I'm Sarah, this is my husband Rob."
"I'm Royal, nice to meet you." I say politely, looking between Rob and Sarah.
"They're the owners of this place." Prince said as Sarah walked back to her husband. I nodded with a smile.
"Well, we have your table ready, follow me." Sarah said with a tight smile.
We walked past multiple couples, all wearing expensive dresses and tailor made suits. We finally arrived to a table. It was nicely decorated and located at the back of the restaurant.
"Okay, can we please talk about Marcus now?" I asked as I impatiently laid down my menu, staring at Prince. He lowered his menu and rose an eyebrow.
"No."
I groan again as I lean forward.
"The fact that you refuse to talk about him only makes me believe that not only you know him, but you think he's worth saving." I whisper shouted.
He placed his menu down and stared at me.
"He doesn't deserve to be saved. He deserves to be put in a pit somewhere and buried up." I mumbled the last part.
Just as he was about to speak, his phone went off. He took it out and looked at it. He smirked before pushing his chair out, slowly standing.
"Hold that thought." He said as he began walking off.
"Prince, don't you dare leave me here!" I quietly shouted at him. He ignored me and kept walking.
A nearby couple stared at me confused and I gave them a little wave and smile.
"Hi.."
