Overalls & Our
____________________________WE ALL LOOKED to where she was pointing. After indeed seeing a sketchy man standing still across the street, the mysterious man gasped, shaking his head as he muttered something under his breath.
"Oh no, not again." He spoke, trying his best to avoid eye contact with us. I stared at him with a raised brow, standing from my seat besides Prince to slowly approach him.
"Sir, are you alright?" I asked, watching as his muscles flexed under his black turtleneck. He stared at me, his brown eyes wide.
"Please miss, take my daughter." He said quickly. I didn't have any time to ask what he meant as he shoved the little girl into my arms. "Bring her to this address in a few hours, six to be exact."
Now it was my turn to stare at him like he was crazy. His tall stature slightly cowered as his dark skin reflected someone who has seen somethings.
"I- I'm not keeping your kid." I stated, Prince coming to my side and staring the man down in suspicion. He grabbed my hands, his eyes filling with tears.
"Please, I beg of you. If she stays with me they'll kill her, too! She's the only thing I have left and I can't manage to lose her!" He pleaded. I didn't know how to respond as I stared at the man.
"..okay." I said after sometime. His face lit up, the tears falling as he took my acceptance as some form of gift from the Gods.
"Thank you! Oh thank you!" He shouted, giving his daughters shoulder a light squeeze. She gave him a sad look, her own eyes brimming with tears as she realized he was going to leave.
"Dada, don't leave me!" She shouted, reaching for her father with watery eyes. He kissed the top of her head before pulling away and whispering something to her. She nodded, releasing her tears.
"I'll be okay, Polly. Just be safe."
The four of us stood there and watched as Polly's father slowly exited the park, pulling the baseball cap he wore down. Prince and I noticed how the man who was watching us from across the park moved, matching her father's movements from a distance.
"This is all because you wanted to go the the damn park." Prince muttered, thinking I wouldn't hear him. I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
"...shut up."

We got to learn more about Polly and whatever she could tell us about her father and his situation. She said his real name was Dean, having a surprisingly good memory as she easily recalled past events.
She also said that men have been following them for the past month or so, a new one every day. They had to constantly move because someone was after them, although her father never told her who or why.
"Play with Junior, we'll be over here." I said after me and Prince interrogated her. She nodded shuffling back to the doe eyed boy whose cheeks burned when he saw her coming closer.
"What do you want to do?" Prince asked as soon as we were far enough. I looked up at him and shrugged.
"This man just dropped off his daughter with a pair of strangers. If he's willing to do that then he must be in something serious." I replied. He nodded in agreement. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the small girl, examining her.
She wore a white shirt with a pair of worn out overalls, her tennis shoes had small holes on the sides and her shoelaces were torn. She had light freckles scattered around her nose, her round nose matching her personality of cuteness. Tendrils of curls escaped from her buns, dangling besides her ears.
