"YOU'RE ONLY SAYING that to mess with me right?" I mumbled as I look down at him. "You wouldn't use your last second on that."

I was sitting on the edge of my bed, my feet touching the floor as Prince crouched between my legs, staring up at me with a smirk.

"At first I didn't know what it was," He began as he leaned forward again, this time pushing my back onto the bed and hovering over me. "My mother had told me it was love but I dismissed the idea."

His hand reached up and rubbed my cheek while his other balanced his weight. His eyes met mine as he gave me a small, sad smile.

"But then to see what I did to you and how it broke my heart to see you like that.." He mumbled.

"Stop." I interrupt him. He looks down at me, confused before I quickly push him off of me and stand up, flustered. "Don't say that word again."

"What?"

I knew he was hurt. I could see the look in his eyes. I don't mean to, but I can't help myself.

He can't get hurt, too.

"Don't say the 'L' word to me." I repeat as I walk around the room. He slowly stands up with squinted eyes as he stops me by gently grabbing my arm.

"You don't have to say it back." He whispered. I looked up into his pained eyes as mine began to water.

"I-it's not that I don't want to!" I say harshly. He stands still, letting me yell at him when he's done nothing wrong.

"Whenever I love someone or say that I do, they-they end up dead!" I shout as my hands began to tremble at the thought of my family. "I don't know if it's because of me or not but I'm pretty sure it is because I'm the only one left alive!"

By now, tears are streaming down my face, my voice wavering intensely as I cover my face with my hands. My head is pressed against his chest once again as he secures me in a tight hug.

He says nothing, he just lets me continue sobbing into him, something I couldn't have appreciated more in that moment.

"You love me?"

My voice was the only other noise besides our breathing that disturbed the silent room. Prince had offered to lay with me in my bed, cuddling with me as I composed myself.

"Mhm." He hummed as he rubbed my arm up and down.

"Based on what you just witnessed, are you sure? I've got a lot of baggage." I say as I look up at him. He held my body close, lightly giving my arm a squeeze as if some sort of reassurance. "You think you can handle my baggage?"

He chuckled deeply as he looked down at me.

"Baby, I run a Mafia. I'll handle yours if you can handle mine." He said humorously. I rested my head back on his chest with a small laugh.

"Why do you love me?" I asked after another silence settled in the air.

"Because you do something that isn't seen often in my world." He responded with no hesitation. "You care."

"Caring is a natural human trait." I say back.

"You'd be surprised by the human traits I encounter daily." He mumbled. I looked up to see his eyes close. His hand was still rubbing mine, letting me know he was still awake and listening.

"I'll tell you, but not today." I say quietly. He hums again.

"Whatever you want." His voice answered as he kissed my forehead and his hand went down to my waist.

A few seconds later, he rearranged the pillow he was laying his head on, making me compliment myself for removing the gun and placing it in the nightstand.

"I'm going shopping at the mall tomorrow." I stated once he laid back down.

"Okay. We'll buy whatever you want, even the mall if you want it." He said.

"You're not coming."

I felt his stare from the top of my head, deciding to ignore it.

"Fine. I'll have my most reliable bodyguards go with you." He replied after a few seconds.

"That won't be necessary." I say as I snuggle into his side. He pulls me back, awaiting a plausible answer. "I won't be going alone. Zion will be with me."

He scoffs as he sits up, leaving me laying down.

"Are you serious?" He asked as he looked back at me, a scowl evident on his face. I smirk as I poke his cheek.

Oh the irony.

"You see that, that's how I felt when I walked into your office." I said with a laugh.

"That wasn't my fault." He groaned. I rolled my eyes. I laid back down and pulled the blanket over my body. "Bambina. Are you seriously going shopping with that joke of a man?"

I nodded my head in response as I turned on my side, my back facing him.

"If another 'joke of a man' didn't burn his jacket, we wouldn't be having this conversation." I quipped. He remained silent before his arm went around my waist, slightly pulling me back.

"How'd you know about that?"
