"HERE YOU GO." I said as I carefully place the glass plate that held the homemade Rice Krispie treats I made, with the help of the mysterious maid.

I should find out her name too-

"Ohh yay!" Junior shouted out in wonder as he reached for one. Alice watched as his small little hand grabbed one, fitting it into his mouth before chomping on it.

"Mm, yes. Thank you." Jane muttered as she took one as well. I gave her a closed eyed smile as to not come off as bitchy, knowing I've had just enough of her attitude.

"This is-" Jane cut off Juniors compliment, turning it vile.

"Horrible. This is absolutely horrible." She repeated. I tilted my head at her and scoffed.

"What do you mean? I followed the recipe to the letter." I stated, holding myself back from harming the brunette that laid lazily on the couch as a disgusted face adorned her features.

"Obviously not. If you had, it would've tasted better." She remarked. I looked at Alice and she shook her head, telling me not to get involved.

I listened and kept my mouth shut.

Until-

"Mrs. Martinez, she's Junior's new nanny and can't cook? What auction did you get her from?" Jane asked in a joking manner towards Alice, chuckling afterwards.

My eyes widened at her comment.

"Excuse you?" I asked in a harsh tone, wanting her to repeat herself. Jane quickly stood up and looked me down as I made my way towards her, threatening her with every breath I took.

She noticed this so her eyes flickered to Alice, begging for help. And she did.

"Royal, that's enough." Her voice spoke. I paused and looked at her.

"No, it's really not. This racist piece of trash needs to be put in her place." I snapped as I look back at Jane.

"Royal." She said coldly.

Is she seriously okay with this?!

"Sit." She said in a more relaxed manner as she patted the cushion beside her. I rolled my eyes but did as I was told, taking a seat next to her. Alice nodded her head in the content before looking back at Jane.

"Jane, I'm very disappointed in you." She said clearly. Before Jane could have any type of reaction to her words, Aidan walked into the room.

"This way ma'am." He directed at Jane. She looked at him confused.

"What? Where are we going?" She asked as she backed away from him. My eyebrows rose as I watched this play out, wishing I had a bowl of popcorn as well as this free entertainment.

"You're getting off of this property. ASAP." Alice replied cooley.

"Why?!" She shrieked as she looked between Alice and Adrian. A part of me almost felt sad for what was happening.

But, thankfully, that part was very, very, very small. Almost obsolete.

"You disrespected Royal. She is a part of this family. That means you disrespected this family and no one disrespects this family." She said sternly.

I almost felt honored to be apart of.. a mafia? Strange..

"W-what about Junior?!" She yelped, trying to appeal to her soft spot. "Who will teach him?!"

Shoot, I can-

"Royal is capable of doing so." She responded. I looked at her weirdly. Was she able to read my mind?

"It's-its complex stuff. You can't just learn it overnight!" She tried to reason. I scoffed as I stood up again, feeling more confident than I've ever before.

"It's first grade math. I'll manage Karen." I comment.

"My name is Jane!"

"I know."

"Jane leave and never return. If you are within 500 feet of this house," Alice began as she rose from the couch, strutting to her caged body, behind Adrian who had restrained her. "I'll make sure you can never walk again."

Shivers traveled down my spine as I managed to catch her last sentence although she whispered it.

My mind completely blanked on how Junior could be feeling about this whole ordeal so I look down towards him. He completely was immersed in whatever page he was coloring in and a Rice Krispie treat in his mouth that he hadn't paid attention to the argument any longer after Jane had cut him off.

My eyes snapped away from Junior when I heard the sound of large doors opening. I saw Adrian drag a flustered, bruised, and furious Jane out the room before he calmly shut the door after himself.

"Whoa." I mutter. Alice heard as she turned back to me and smiled at me.

"Dear, remember one thing if nothing else," she said as she picked up one of the treats from the plate. "You are family now."

She spun on her own black heels as she took a bite from the treat. She hummed in delight before calling over her shoulder;

"These truly are delicious. Excellent work."
