Guilt & Same
____________________________"WHAT WOULD I have to say to you?" Noelle spat out in a condescending tone as we exited Junior's medical room.
Aidan had disappeared a few minutes after bringing me here, Leo and Junior chatting their hearts out about nonsense.
"I don't understand you." I state. She furrows her brows, clearing her throat.
"What are you talking about?" She questioned.
"The first time I met you, you were an absolute bitch. You were openly flirting with Prince in my presence and then I hear you formulate some absurd plan to get him back into you life." I elaborate.
"No, Elizabeth was flirting with him, alright. She's had this messed up idea that he's in love with her longer than I've known him, so don't get your words mixed up." She tried to declare.
I roll my eyes at her words, cringing at the reminder of Elizabeth.
"Oh please, as if you weren't ready to get on all fours if he asked you to." I say, resulting in a shocked look from her. "Look, I'm not trying to fight you. If I were, you would've already been stomped out on the pavement."
She took a subtle step back, very aware that it wasn't just a threat but a promise.
"Then what do you want?" She questions.
"To understand you. All my life I've been able to read people with very little action required, but you, you're impossible." I admit and she looks at me confused. "You left Junior for six years, leaving me to believe that you don't care about him,
but— as much as I hate to admit it— I can see you do care.""That's because I do. He's my son." She responded.
"Yet you made the choice to abandon him." I shoot back.
My repetitive words must have caused something to snap in her as her voice raised with her next words.
"It was not my choice!" She sneered. Her hands rose to her lips, gasping at her own words. I froze before seeing the look of regret in her eyes.
"What do you mean by that?"
"No, nothing, I-I didn't mean to say that." She muttered quietly, seeming too afraid to continue. Her once irritated demeanor shriveled up, leaving behind a terrified shell.
"But you did. Noelle what the hell does that mean?" I push further. Her eyes look around the room, before speaking.
"Just drop it. You've had all the time in the world with my son while I can barely ever see him." She states, changing the subject.
"And that's my fault how? Noelle you need to start taking responsibility for all the shit you've done, otherwise you'll never get anywhere." I say.
"I-"
"For the last six years Junior has been lacking a female figure that can only be filled by his mother. Prince and Alice have done one hell of a job raising him without your help. Why do you decide to care now?" I cut her off.
She freezes, almost as if trying to figure out what to say. I raise a brow at her hesitance and continue.
"I've always cared. I'm his mother— he should be calling me mammina instead and Prince and I should still be together!" She shouts. I watched carefully as her voice raised and her face reddened with her next words. "I will make sure you regret ever involving yourself with either of them."
