LEONARDO WALKED THROUGH, closing the door behind him. He was slightly shocked to see Vincenzo standing there, bowing his head in acknowledgement for his former Don.

"Sir, I didn't know you were here." Leonardo said to him. He nodded as he stalked closer to him.

"I hadn't planned on coming but once I heard what happened to Ms. Queen I needed to make sure she was alright." He explained.

I found it odd at the connection my father had made with Royal on the short interaction they had so long ago.

"Of course," He stated, turning to me. I stood up, waiting for something to fall from his mouth. "Don if you could follow me."

I quickly made my way after him as he opened the door and walked through it.

"And the rest of you could stay here if you'd like. I just need The Don." Leonardo said as he slowly closed the door behind me.

He turned to me and gave me a look, huffing.

"I expect a raise, a handwritten apology and a fruit basket." He simply said as he walked past me, my brow quirking before I followed him again.

We stopped at the familiar door, the one that led to the room I had left her in. He paused for a moment, glancing at me before twisting the door knob, pushing it open.

My eyes widened once I saw that on the other side laid the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, she was alive. She laid still, her eyes closed and her lips slightly parted.

But she was alive.

The machine beside her was beeping at a regular pace, the rise and fall of the line making a sense of relief rush over my body.

"Yes, she's alive," Leonardo began as I took hesitant steps towards her bed. "we had to use the AED to revive her but nothing happened to the twins. They're both fine."

I nodded, unable to speak as I stared down at her.

"She was malnourished, her heart stopped as the babies were feeding on whatever nutrients she had left." He explained as my eyes glanced down to her wrists, the various tubes sticking from her skin a new installment.

"These are feeding her. We have to get her to an average weight before she can get off of them. Not to mentions since she's pregnant that might take a while." Leonardo continued once he saw where my eyes had landed.

I remained quiet, taking a seat on the chair that I left at her bedside.

Leonardo knew when I got like this I would not speak so he decided to take it upon himself to continue to elaborate on her condition.

"She might not wake up for a while. She's already three and a half months pregnant so we estimated she'll wake up in three more." He informed, going to her other side to fluff her pillow.

Three more months without her?

Leonardo stood still, examining my face before he readjusted her pillows once more, deciding to make small talk.

"I've never seen you so worried before, Don." He said in a hushed tone. I looked up at him, my hand about to slide into Royals' before I stopped myself.

I was too afraid to touch her, scared that I had caused what happened before, so I settled on watching her slow breathing.

"You didn't kill her." Leonardo said suddenly. My gaze moved from her to him, shaking my head as I wondered how he knew what I was thinking. "Her heart stopped because someone kidnapped and starved her, you didn't do that."
