POV CHANGE

EVERYTHING WAS DARK. Everything was silent. My eyelids felt heavier than they'd ever felt before.

I struggled to open them, my breathing becoming shallower as I tried to fight the urge to fall back into the abyss I had been in.

Now everything was bright, everything was loud. From the sound of the machine beside my bed to the bright lights in the room, my senses became overwhelmed.

I focused on one thing, something oddly soothing about it as I tried to regain my strength.

I laid there, staring up at the familiar plant that hung above me, gently swinging from the ceiling, almost as if it was a mobile for a baby's crib.

Unable to recall where I'd seen it from, I stared at it a few minutes longer before my hand turned into a fist.

I tested the amount of strength I had, carefully sitting up and leaning against the headboard. I sighed, the small movements taking a toll.

I glanced around the rest of the room,  slightly taken back by the countless decorations I was met with.

Was it always like this?

My hand traveled to the top of my head, making contact with a hard plastic. I pulled it off, seeing a headband with large antlers attached to it.

What is going on?

I didn't give myself enough time to process it, although noting the season change, as I attempted to further test my limits.

I pulled the blanket off of my bottom half, slightly heaving as I did so. I noticed the large amount I had grown from when I remembered, my mind running laps at the difference.

Once the blanket was off, I heard the light thump of something hit the ground. I furrowed my brows, trying my best to sit up. I managed to sit on the edge of the bed, seeing a dark coat sprawled on the ground.

Remembering the countless times I had ventured into his closet, I automatically knew it belonged to Prince.

I smiled at the thought.

He must have visited me recently.

It was clear I was incapacitated for a long time, the amount of time, though, being unclear.

I stood up, my feet going weak as I hadn't used them in a while. I grabbed onto the first thing I could: the monitor.

It's wires were connected to me, easy to move so I made sure to grab it by it's neck and pull it towards me as I stood myself up.

I neared the coat that laid on the floor, and with a struggle, bent down to pick it up. As I did, a smile on my face as I was instantly greeted with the scent of Prince, another thud came from beneath me.

There, on the ground, laid a small, dark box.

I tilted my head, bending to pick it up and standing once again, the coat draped on my arm as I began to open it.

"Okay, so I managed to find a few more lights, now tell me if it's over the top but-" A voice began, a very beautiful woman walking in with a cardboard box in her hands, stopping once she looked up and saw me.

The box in her hands landed on the floor in an instant, the loud noise causing me to flinch. She stood there, her face stuck somewhere between a gasp and pure shock.
