The bright sparkle in the greens of his eyes that gives away his happiness is gone, the dimples on his cheeks never appearing no matter how much we try to get them too. Every zoom call we hold with him is that same he looks exhausted and withdrawn and the constant low mood that he is sporting has got all his boys messaging me to find out what the hell is going on with him.

For months we lied to him choosing to protect Emily with the choice she made, risking everything to keep him out of her life knowing that there was a strong possibility he would climb onto a plane back to the states and never speak to any of us again when the truth inevitably came out. Instead, when he finally stumbled upon the truth with a little push from myself we were all taken by surprise when he opted for a much more mature approach, he took the time with Emily choosing her and the baby over the franchise so that he could convince her that he made a mistake those months before and that he wanted the baby with her, and more than anything he was willing to prove himself over the months they believed they had ahead of them before their bundle of joy was meant to join them.

Shockingly to us all Eleanora made a surprise appearance at just thirty weeks into the pregnancy, Hero missed her birth and was not there to support Emily when she needed it something that I genuinely believe is adding to the wedge between them now.

In the short weeks since the birth of their daughter Emily has struggled to cope with the chance that they may still lose her, and Hero managed to prove everyone wrong by not only stepping up and dealing with everything in a mature way but when Emily hit the lowest we thought she could he told everyone that if Emily was unable to supply the parenting that his daughter needed, he was more than happy to take on the new role alone.

I believe the moment those words left his mouth is the exact point that the future of the couple we all believed to be end game really did come crashing down for a final time. The chances are that the damage of his determination to not only stop her from putting up the baby for adoption if she chose to but to move her to America with him potentially cutting ties with Emily for not only Eleanora but himself too was the final straw that pushed Emily to punish him in a way that will stop him from ever fully trusting her again.

The lies that got them to this point, now mean that co-parenting is not something she is willing to entertain as an option, even though Emme is in the wrong she not only cannot see it, but she is also not willing to listen to anyone else's opinions and she sure isn't willing to let anyone else's feelings to be taken into consideration.

I check out the text message again that I received from Hero this morning trying desperately to work out how I am going to break the news to my mother and sister, the time is finally here to be honest after we have hidden the truth so far from them about all the drama that is going on down in Winchester.

Hey bro, things down here have gone to shit. Emily is still refusing to budge on the parental rights thing, and she wants me out of here before the white party weekend. I have no idea what the fuck I am going to do or how to stop her from doing this. Eleanora is coming home a few days after the party and apparently, we aren't a family, and she doesn't want me anywhere near them when they start their life together. I think I need your help bro; how do I tell mum I have fucked up so bad we are all being cut out of my daughters' life.

The simple wording of his text tells me everything I need to know. The pain my brother is going through right now is something that I could never imagine experiencing in my life, to have come so far after being deceived over the termination of his child to being told he could be involved if he proved himself as being the man his child needed in its life, to then having her snatched away from him after he has bonded and given his whole heart to his daughter is beyond what I ever imagined Emily was capable of.
