Chapter 62

Yǔ's POV

I picked up a stalk of ink-leaf lotus and tempered it in a small flame that hovered a few centimeters over my hand. I watched with close attention as the lotus burnt to form a round blackish liquid before shaping it into a pill-like ball. 

I found it best to use Hestia's flame since it was the purest form. The liquid rolled around in the flame, as I controlled the temperature with great care since even the slightest change in the temperature could evaporate the stalk into nothing, and a few seconds later the impurities surfaced within the liquid, which I separated from the main body with ease. After the impurities had been removed, the liquid remained with a lustrous gleam.

I took another four stalks and tempered them separately before fusing them and watched as the size of the round pill expanded to the size of half a fist before shrinking down to a thumb size. I picked up a snake venom fruit and summoned the fire around it, tempering it and removing the impurities, turning it to an icy blue color and coating the black liquid over it. I watched as the two liquids with opposing attributes combined, releasing a white smoky plume from the flame. As a final touch, I added a qi-gathering grass and Apollo's qi into the mix.

A small smirk rose on my face, as a unique pill fragrance of refined herbs entered my nose and a small flash of light was released leaving behind three pills in a smooth and slippery shape. A dull blue gleam hovered on the surface of the pill. As the last step, I warmed the pill at a lowered temperature for eight minutes before staring in satisfaction at the three dark green and light blue shaded pills hovering over my hand.

A success...

"Congratulations, master... You created three rank-four pills on your first try..."

I let out a sigh, "I was lucky... If I had not tasted the ingredients at the market the last time out of curiosity, I would have never been able to recreate them or refine the pill. Who knew that random ingredients with weird names that aroused my curiosity could be used to form a pill???"

That was right... Before meeting up with Lì in the market the last time, I had come across the three herbs; ink-leaf lotus, snake venom fruit, and the qi gathering grass, which caught my notice because of the weird-sounding names and tried them out for fun, even though I was warned against it by the seller since eating raw herbs could be harmful and dangerous to the body but with Apollo's blessing it was nothing.

Just as I finished trying out the three, the formula to create the pill registered in my mind and I decided to recreate the herbs and store them in my warehouse (in the domain, a particular building was used to store medicinal herbs, pills, syrups, medical tools, etc.). As long as I know how an edible item looks and tastes I can recreate them exactly. Since it's not a fake as such, all the properties and attributes remain. I usually make it a habit to store in bulk so even if I forget the taste; I can try it again and make more.

(A/N: The reason why the foreign formula automatically registered in her head after she consumed the ingredients is because of Apollo's as well as Hermes' blessings, which gives her any medical and alchemy-related knowledge. So, for example, as long as she tries a pill, she can know the formula for the same, or by trying the related ingredients, a formula can be created in her head. Also since Apollo is the god of healing and medicines, even formulas that are not known by the world, those that are created by Apollo himself are accessible to Percy and he can also come up with his  own formulas.)

It had been one and a half months since I got my betrothal gifts. I hadn't seen Lì since the night before. After Bai Ze and Bai Zou had left, Li Juan sent some servants to try and get their hands on some of my gifts but I beat them up and sent them packing. Father and grandmother have taken a backseat, to see whether or not I had any worth and Li Lien went out of her way to avoid me, not that I minded since I got the time to work on other stuff...
