Li Yǔ's POV

After a few days of staying at the residence, I was already bored. I needed to go out and get some fresh air and even Mael was craving to explore the outside world; he's gotten bored of remaining in the domain.

Ever since the visit to the kitchen, decent food has always been sent to my room, and after a flogging or two, all the maid spies have become quiet and cautious. Father has made no commotion regarding the kitchen matter, though it is possible that he doesn't know. Sadly, nobody's come to cause any problems with me so I haven't had the opportunity to use my whip or my new sword.

I, as the original owner of the body, don't possess a decent dress; all that she owns are too shabby and she's outgrown most of them (what I use now are ones that I create but people could start raising questions). And of course, nobody in the residence felt the need to get her some. So since I had nothing better to do, I decided to go to the market.

According to Quan, the ancient market was nothing like going to a mall. Ancient markets are found near the capital, where a larger crowd will be found, and are basically a street divided into lanes that have different ancient buildings offering different products. There were restaurants, stands, stalls, boutique shops, pawn shops, auction houses, gambling houses, brothels, etc. And I was very excited for my first real outing...

I had initially planned to go in disguise but after remembering the main purpose of the trip, which was to buy clothes for the body, I decided against it. I had Quan do my hair and tried to learn how she did it but quickly lost interest as she started twisting and looping the strands of my hair using complicated motions. Since I was satisfied with the end result (which looked so simple), I decided to just leave it to her. I had her use hair pins to hold the style together, so whenever I needed to pull out the sword hair stick, the hairstyle wouldn't collapse.

I wore a simple black hanfu (a traditional type of Chinese clothing) and a black cloak, covering my face. Since I didn't really know the way, I had Quan tag along since she also had stuff she needed, and we slipped out through the back exit. It didn't take long before we were standing on the main street of the market (since the Li Residence was close to the capital). I felt shivers of excitement run up my spine as I took in the sights and heard the bustling movements and the market commotion.

I told Quan that she could go and get her stuff and return to the residence and I'd find my way back. Although she was hesitant, she nodded and left. She must have been glad that I was finally going out and not locking myself in the residence so she must not have wanted to say anything. I gave her one of the spare hair sticks Hephaestus had created and told her to sell it and use the money to buy something nice for herself, and she accepted after a lot of persuasion.

Minutes after she left, Mael let himself out of the domain and plopped himself, lazily, on my head, sighing, happy to finally be let out. I giggled and scratched his snout as I started walking down the street, looking around in excitement. It was at this point that I realized one very important fact that made me freeze where I stood:
