Chapter 33

as I make my way over to the garage to put my blue beauty in her spot coach runs up behind me

 "are you ever going to get tired of winning Baylor" he asks me

 "maybe one day but today's not that day" I tell him 

"haha well you know you need to be careful with those flips one day they won't be friendly to you"

 "duly noted coach but what happened to you is not going to happen to me" I tell him 

 "you don't know that what happened to me was a spur of the moment action I didn't plan it much like your not planning on it happening to you" he says

 for those of us who don't know who my coach is the world-renowned motocross star Ricardo Rodriguez he was really big in 1995 before either of us were born he won 4 consecutive world titles more than anybody in the sport since he holds the record that I hope to break someday like a lot of the guys but I'm the only one coach says has a real chance which sometimes gives me a big head I'm not gonna lie coach says if I keep that up I could end up like him in his 5 worlds run he went up for a jump and when he landed he skidded and suffered a career-ending injury that's why he coaches to train the next generation in hopes of one day finding someone whos as good as he once was and I have a sneaking suspicion that he also loves to live vicariously through his riders but that's just my own theory.

 "so listen kid I got a call from the lady who controls all your sponsorship stuff" coach begins to tell me 

after I won my second world title companies started wanting to sponsor me like big ones mainly all I have to do is wear their logos but occasionally they'll reach out and ask me to do things like events for them all I have to do is show up and be there I'm grateful that's all I have to do because God knows I hate public speaking 

"Elana yes what did she want? What event do I have to do this time?" I ask him

 "Actually it's not really an event"

 "what is it then" 

"they want you to speak at a career conference in New York City"

 "oh come on coach you know I don't want to do that can't they find someone else to do it" 

"I know kid but they want you like it or not your kind of a big deal but to make it better you get to bring a plus one to speak with you do you have anyone in mind?" 

"uh yeah actually I do does it have to be a stem major or can it be any kind" 

"they said any kind the more diverse the better" 

"Great well I'll have to check with her first but I think you can put down an engineering and a phycology major"

 "Ash listen to me do not bring one of your little hoes with you this is serious this is your career"

 "coach I get that she's not one of my hoes she my girlfriend" 

"Okay kid well talk to this girl and see if she'll do it but I want to meet her before I sign off on it"

 "will do coach" I say walking away texting her as I walk to my car 

"Hey Blake I need to talk to you about something can we meet" I send her getting a text as I get in my car

 "yeah cafe in 10?" she says 

"that's good for me see you then"
