Kai's POV
"Mom!" I'm trying to find Quinn. "Cerberus where's mom?" I asked, looking at the dog below me. "Mom! Are you in here?" I yelled. My voice echoed though the Chamber. "Yeah!" She yelled. She walked up to me. "What's up?" She asked. "I wanted to ask you something" I said. "You wanna go to school" she looked down at her clipboard. "Yeah... how did you know?" I asked. "Your mother said you would ask and I agree with her kai. You're not safe in the overworld" she said. "Mom please I've never wanted anything more than I do this" I pleaded. She sighed. "I'm sorry kai. Demons are not treated well on earth and I cant protect you up there" she said. "I don't need your protection. I'm sixteen! I'll be fine. Besides I'm immortal" I said. She glared up at me with her hair ablaze. "No, end of discussion" she walked away.
"Who does she think she is? She can't just keep me here my whole life!" I exclaimed. "Sure she can. She's your mom and she's the queen." Cal said. I huffed. "You're not helping." I groaned. "Look, your mom has a point. Humans are brutal." Cal said. "What? You go to school on earth though!" I said. "My sisters and I are an important part of our friends future. We have to go up there. You don't." She explained. "So you're saying I'm not important?" I asked. "Not to them. No." She said. "But you know that things can change. What if me going up there changes things for them!" I said. "It won't." She said plainly. I frowned. "Plus, that thing she said about being able to protect me is such bull! She can't protect me in Hell either!" I said. "That's because you haven't told her about the bullying." She said. "Yeah! Because I'm nervous. It makes me look weak. Like I can't stick up for myself." I pouted. "But... you can't." Cal said. My hair flared up. "I know! I know I can't!" I exclaimed. "Maybe if you told her, she would consider letting you go." She shrugged. "Or she'd just nuke my demon school." I grumbled. "That's a likely hood too." She shrugged. I groaned. "can't you just support me?!" I asked. She looked at me sympathetically. "Come on babe. You know I love you, but you also know that I have to remain neutral." She said. I huffed. "Neutral my ass." I grumbled.
I walked down the hall at school with people staring, whispering, and laughing at me like they always do. "Hey! Did anyone ever tell you red and blue don't match?" Someone yelled. I rolled my eyes. "Hey guys look! It's the fire head princess!" Another one said. My hair flamed up as my anger grew. "Ms. Flare! I do ask that you keep your fire under control while you're at school. If it happens again, I will have to call your parents." A teacher walked by. I just Looked back at him like he's an idiot, because he is. I really don't understand. It's like these people have no idea who I am. I literally will be ruling over them in a few years. I looked back forward to be met with three guys staring down at me. "Can I help you?" I asked. "Nope. We're gonna help you put that fire out." They smirked.
They dunked my head in the toilet and got my horns stuck down in it. By the time I got out, I got sent to the principals office for skipping class. My mom came to pick me up. "Why am I here? ...Why are you wet?" Lyra asked. "Your daughter was skipping class." The principal informed. "I got my head stuck in the toilet after these kids dunked me." I corrected. Lyra was immediately enraged. "What?! You let something so rude and degrading happen to your future queen, and then call me to say that she was in the wrong?!" Lyra growled. The principal didn't know what to say. "Relax mom. They're just gonna do what they always do. Say sorry and then not change anything because they don't actually care." I said. "This has happened before?!" Mom exclaimed. I nodded. "Why didn't you say anything? Or fight back?" She asked. I shrugged. "I'm not a violent person. Why do you think I wanted to go to human school?" I said. Lyra held the bridge of her nose and sighed.
"That's why you wanted to go?" Quinn asked. I nodded. She paced back and forth as she thought. "We should let her go Quinn." Lyra said. I was stunned by her words. "Really?" I asked. "You're safer there." Lyra shrugged. "Is she? Is she really?" Quinn asked. "Mom please. The Fates will be at the same school!" I said. "Oh yeah. Cause they're totally gonna look after you." Quinn said sarcastically. Cal cleared her throat and we looked over. "How long have you been there?" Lyra asked. "May I take this opportunity to remind you that I'm dating your daughter? And that I can literally see every possible things that could happen to her? You really think I wouldn't watch over her?" Cal asked, ignoring Lyra's question. I smiled at Cal and she winked at me. "Well... I guess if you're there then... it may be ok." Quinn said. "Your majesty. If I may... no one on earth really gives a shit." Cal said. Quinn huffed. "Fine! Fine. You can go." Quinn surrendered. "Great! Now let's go torch that school!" Lyra cheered. Quinn smiled and they ran off like two giddy kids. I turned to Cal. "Thanks for standing up for me." I smiled. She smiled back. "I love you Kai. I don't ever you to think otherwise. So if this helps you see that, then I'm happy to do it. You may not be important to anyone else, but you're important to me." she said. She took my hands in hers. "I know. And I love you too." I said. She gave me a quick kiss and we walked out together.
