Chapter 15 - the unknown

"I'm gonna need you girls to sit down for this."

Both Maria and Esmerelda look at each other in a concerning way.

"I'm just gonna get to the point. Esmerelda do you remember when I took you to go practice with your gun for the very first time when you were nine?"

"Yeah we were in Mexico for the first time, you said I had to be very cautious with my surroundings because you had a few business things to do and because it was extremely dangerous."

"Esmerelda check the pictures on phone you took from that day."

"Umm hold on, February 29 2001. Why?-"

"That was the day my parents were killed and I was taken." Maria said

"So that day when we're on the roof top and we saw the fire that was-"

"Yes unfortunately, your the reason why I came to Mexico Maria. Your father is my cousin, he didn't want to be apart of the mafia and changed his last name to Salazar. He called me because he knew that this would happen but when we got their it was too late. I couldn't put Esmerelda's life at risk, she was only nine I couldn't loose her. But since your family your under my protection."

"Now you think I want your fucking protection? I lost my parents and you think you have the right to just tell me this right now!."

"Im so sorry Maria, I should of helped you. Trust me if I can go back and change everything I would but since you're now your with Chico and with the Soto vatos. I can't risk a war. But I will help you out of there as much as I can."

"No gracias no necesito tu ayuda." Maria leaves

"I'll go talk to her."

Esmerelda goes running after Maria and sees her sitting on a bench.

"Hey Umm...... listen this is all my fault I'm so sorry. He should of tried to save your parents, but if it wasn't for my stupid ass self, you wouldn't be in this place right now. It's okay if you don't forgive me, I wouldn't either if I were you again I'm sorry."

Esmerelda walks back to her Car.

"Esme wait-"

Esmerelda turns around to see Maria running towards her and hugging her.

"It's not your fault neither your uncles- wait I guess he's my uncle too."

Both Esmerelda and Maria chuckle.

"De verdad no es tu culpa, somethings just happened for a reason."

"Hey on the bright side at least you have some what of a family. After all you do have santos blood in veins, that's gotta count some how. Trust me I will help you get rid of Chico and the Soto vatos, I mean I do kinda owe you."

"Don't worry we'll find a way prima, if it's the last thing we do."

Esmerelda nods her head.

"We should go back to the hospital, we need to pick up Marcus. I'm afraid billy and lex will probably do some crazy shit to him."

They head to the hospital to see Marcus changed and sitting on the bed.

"How you feeling?"

"Better the doctor says i need to be on bed rest for 2 days. I'm gonna be dizzy and I'm probably gonna have to take meds or some shit."

"Okay? Let's go."

The nurse comes in with a wheelchair.

"Is this really necessary? I mean I can totally walk."

"We don't wanna risk you getting hurt it would be so sad if you got hurt mr. López." The nurse says in a flirty tone.

Esmerelda looks her up and down then rolls her eyes.

"I sure do hope you don't have a girlfriend."

"I know this bitch did not just say that." Esmerelda says while whispering in Maria's ear.

"Calm down prima you Can kill her after we get out the hospital."

"Fine."

"You guys wait in the car i need to have a quick chat with the nurse."

Everyone gets in the car except Marcus.

"Marcus get up." Esmerelda says

Marcus gets out the wheel chair.

"Sorry to say lady but he's mine."

Esmerelda cups his face and kisses him.

"Adiós." Marcus says while waving.

The nurse walks away pissed off.

"No offense Marcus but we need to work on your Spanish, cause it sucks."

Esmerelda pats his cheek.

"Don't worry that's what you have me for, let's go."

They get in car.

"Can you roll the windows down, it's like a sauna in here, dear god." Esmerelda says

"Fine but I'm playing music, let's see what on the radio." Lex says
