Marcus pov

"Dude, what the hell happened back there? You're lucky I saved your ass." Billy tries to change the tire of my car, let's say racing wasn't a good idea.

"It was humiliating, I didn't know what to say." I light up my cigarette and begin to take off my shirt so I can hand wash my car.

"Save some girls for the rest of us brother." He hits my shoulder.

"Most of them are scared of Esmerelda and won't dare to go near me, trust me Billy you have no competition. Plus It's 90 degrees out here I'm burning up, my car isn't going to get clean by itself." As I'm getting up, Willie comes out of nowhere, practically laughing his ass off.

"Well there you two ladies are, Lin is going insane because the janitor found a dead girl in the girl's bathroom. To be fair it has Esmerelda's name written all over that crime scene. But I ain't no snitch so, that's their problem now." Willie just shrugs it off.

"Wonder why? You know, I've gotten to see that ring on her finger up close, and would I sell the shit out of the rock? Yes I would, she probably will too." Billy dramatically looks at me and I roll my eyes.

"Alright, Billy enough fantasizing about a diamond ring-"

"Honestly, I don't know how you haven't killed that punk ass bitch yet, you let him steal the girl that you love then they are getting married. Personally, if I were you I'd show up to the wedding but after all, it is Esmerelda and she'll break your kneecaps."

"You're right but I know that she's doing it for the right cause, who am I to stop her from doing what's right? I believe that we'll make our way back to each other in due time, now are you done talking about my life?"

Honestly, all I hear is about Esmerelda and Xavier, the world works mysteriously. Every time she looks at me it's like every bad thing that has ever happened just disappeared, she's was at her best and brightest, and now that she's around Xavier it's like she's barely holding on.

He will do whatever it takes to be with her but she's doing everything she can to make her way back to me. I don't see anyone else besides her, now I look back at every time we'd laugh, cry, or spend time together in general and wish I didn't take it for granted because now we barely see each other.

End of pov

I lay back in my bed and I scream into my pillow, in frustration. Xavier comes through the door as I'm screaming.

"Woah, am I interrupting something? I'll come back to bother you later. You're too busy screaming your head off."

"Wait, come in, what do you want?" I say while staring at my ceiling.

"I was going to check up on you after what happened with Miss de Luca, it was pretty badass the way you stood up to her."

"Oh shut up, I almost got my ass kicked by a martial arts master, that wouldn't have ended well. I don't know what's wrong with me, it's like I'm out of control." He lays right next to me and stares at the ceiling too.

"You seem the same to me just a bit more sassier than usual. Don't worry, it'll pass eventually, now you want to tell me the other reason why you're here beating yourself up?" I look at him and take a deep.

"Marcus saw the ring, I knew this was gonna happen, for him to like freak out you know. It's like weird for us now, I'm probably gonna let him figure this out on his own."

"Did you always care about him like this?"

"It's complicated, I used to hate the idea of being in a relationship, I thought love was fucking pathetic. People get married to only get divorced later on, now it's a bit different, Marcus was the first person I genuinely had feelings for. Frankly, he didn't know who the hell I was when I first met him which meant a lot to me. I'm pretty sure your parents tried to hook you up with other girls in the same class, am I right?"
