"Ugh, my feet are killing me in these heels." I walk in through the door and immediately kick them off then picked them up. "Long meeting? Mija?" My uncle said. "Three hours in a meeting of men arguing over who had more power. Want a crash course in two words? I have the most power and It was hell, they sounded desperate, why are your hands bruised?" He nervously laughed. Marcus, Billy, and Lex come out the gym with bruises, they were struggling to keep themselves up. "I might've sparred with them a bit." He laughs and i look at them holding on to one another for dear life. "This certainly wins an award of the best male bonding experience. Just get them to the infirmary and have Harvey clean the trail of blood."

As I walked past them and saw a deep cut on Lex's eyebrow. "Aww did he pull out your eyebrow piercing? Don't worry it'll heal, at least it wasn't a rubber bullet wound. He likes to have fun with those." I smile as he flinches away from me. "Great! You scared the kid." I walked up the stairs to my room. "This whole family is horrifying." Lex mumbled. "I heard that! Marcus be dear and come to my room when you're done getting your face iced" I yelled. "That room better be open or I will kick it down!" My uncle yelled and I winked at him because he knew that door was going to be locked. I got changed into comfortable clothes and put away my gun into the safe.

"Para de joder and listen to me! No I don't want a single fucking black flower there. This isn't a funeral." Maria came in and was talking into her ear pierce, the clipboard was glued to her hand. "What's got you so riled up?" I asked her. "I'm planning 34th annual santos family charity event." My jaw dropped. "Fuck, I forgot about that. I've been busy with meetings and running my speakeasy, that it completely left my mind. Wait why are you planning it? We have people who do that." I laughed. "I'm having trouble deciding my place here and I want to contribute to something." I shook my head. "Couldn't have started with something small? If this isn't properly planned we could lose investors. It was either this or personal assistant, right?" She nodded. "I have people helping me, but they just want to see me fail. MARIA SALAZAR DOESNT FAIL!" she yells. "Wait, when does it take place?" She looks down at her clipboard. "Friday." I shook my head and looked through my papers frantically.

"I have a poker night scheduled that day, how am I supposed to do this? Canceling isn't exactly ideal. Tio would kill me if I didn't show up to that charity event." Then Maria starts talking to her ear pierce again angrily then walks away. Marcus comes into the room, "what's up with her?" I was annoyed with my own mind until I got an idea. "Planning a charity event isn't the lightest task. I have an issue, I have two events happening in one night and I can't really cancel either of them but I'm going to need your help because I trust you the most. How do you feel about running poker night at the speakeasy?" He smiled but looked down nervously.

"Are you sure? I know how poker works but I not exactly a sweet talker but you know who is." I sigh, "go call your boys but I want you to pat them down before they leave, to make sure no chip or dollar is in their pockets. no drinking on the job because I will find out, you're a life saver." I kiss him on the lips and we almost start getting carried away until someone knocks on my door. "Ms. Santos, Gisele is waiting for you downstairs to take your measurements." I thanked her from the other side of the door. "I'll have you guys later on fitted for a tux, please don't make me regret this, Marcus."

He placed his hands on my shoulder, "I won't let you down, now go before they drag you downstairs." I was nervous about letting Marcus do this but I couldn't be absent.

The speakeasy...

"That should be the last of the cases." The delivery guy drops off, "what do we have here?" Lex looks in the box. "I will know if a bottle goes missing, so keep your sticky hands to yourself. you boys will be rewarded if this night goes well. If someone is clearly drunk, you can throw their ass out and there will be security in here if they start getting handsy. Don't let people bribe you, no matter how much it is or what it is." Billy salutes, "yes, ma'am. Just out of curiosity, what will this be reward be?" He puts his arm around me and I laugh sarcastically. I slowly grab his arm and twist it. "You still want to know?" I smile as he squirms in pain. "No, ma'am." I let go and both boys to talk as I go up to Marcus.

"I'm surprised you're so chill right now." I sit down on the stool and ask for two shots of Tito's vodka. "I took a Xanax an hour ago, so I'm relaxed." He was about to take a shot but took it away from him. "I don't think so, Marcus. Just don't over do it, if anything goes wrong just me and I know your specialty is sweet talking these business men so I want you to wring these filthy rich people out of their money." We stared into each other's eyes. "You want me to max out their limitless cards?" I nodded. "I was already planning on it. You know this bossy tone is really turning me on." He pulled me in by my waist. "You're gonna have to wait until tonight, baby." I give him a quick kiss and get up to make a few calls.

"Aren't you guys the perfect Bonnie and Clyde. Don't worry about us brother, we'll make sure nothing happens." Billy's hand rests on Marcus's shoulder, "we better hope so." Marcus couldn't help but feel worried, was going to live up to her expectations or fail and cause a disaster. Billy and Lex were cool as a fucking cucumber, no look of worry on their faces.

Friday....

"There is an emergency weapon under the counter and all employees are loaded, so will you guys." A case was placed in front of the three boys and I on the table. "Look at those beauties." I lay them out for them to each grab on their own. Lex points one at Billy's head as a joke and starts laughing his ass off. "Relax, now brother. We'll have our fun later." They smirk at one another. "Yeah, I know, keep an eye on them." Marcus lights up a cigarette and smokes it right in front of me, I give him a stern look. "Am I not allowed to smoke in here?" he sighs and was about to put it out until I stop him.

"Relax, arguello. I wasn't going to stop you, I was gonna say you aren't gonna share?" I took the cigarette from him and put it up to my lips, I put my hand on his cheek. "Hey, what's wrong?" His eyes couldn't meet mine. "I just don't wanna mess this up for you." I shook my head. "You're not going to and I'm sorry if I'm adding pressure. I'm not making you babysit those two dorks, I know they will get the job done and so will you. You've done alot more dangerous things compared to this, Marcus." He nods his head. "You're right, I'm just over thinking this. It's only 4 hours, these old guys will be drained of money and drunk out of their minds."

"That's the goal and then you can join me at the fundraiser, it's gonna be a while til it ends. Just call me and I can send a driver to pick you guys up." Lex and Billy start to sweet talk the singer tonight but what they don't know is she wants nothing to do with the male species. "We can drive ourselves though." I immediately shook my head. "Hell no. When people get mad they don't win their games then they get a bit... manic and they start slashing tires and planting bombs. We're talking about criminals here, Marcus. Be careful, please and make sure those two don't kill each other but if they shoot each other then call me so I can laugh at their stupidity." I gave him a deep kiss. "Will do, good luck, esme." I blew him a kiss and waved.

"Make sure he makes it out alive you two!" I point at the two dorks. "Yes, m'lady." Lex said as I rolled and eyes and flipped them off. I scurried off to get back to the mansion to get ready for the party I definitely wasn't ready for but at least this gives me an excuse to wear a fancy dress. "Jesus Christ, where were you?" My uncle yells. "I was handling things with my own business but I have it covered." I ran up the steps. "Esmerelda, you have to take this seriously. There's already people asking for you, you are the new face of the santos and you can't have people thinking you're a joke." He walked away from me, leaving me mid way of the staircase. His words stayed in my mind like glue, I got ready and had people doing my hair.

The tiara she placed on my head was the one that mom previously owned, including my female ancestors but this didn't feel like a proud moment. "I remember putting on this same crown on your mother, Ms santos. You look just like her." Just like that, something in my sparked up. "I don't remember asking for your opinion. Put the damn auction necklace on me so I can leave." She gave me a nervous look and carefully clasped the necklace around my neck and she left. I stared at myself in the mirror and saw younger me, the little girl that desperately wanted to come out and be herself. "What am I doing to myself?" I said out loud. I put on my heels and put on a quick swatch of lipgloss over my lips and walked outside with my head high.
