That weekend, the Gryffinfour met Sirius in Hogsmeade at the same place as before. Ron passed the older man a bag of food from Hogwarts, and he immediately began eating it after hugging Harry and Aurora.
After the students told Sirius about Snape and Karkaroff talking in a broom closet, he began speaking about Barty Crouch Jr. and his trial.
"It was no more than an excuse to show how much his father hated him," Sirius began, "Crouch was drowning out his son's voice by screaming his sentence. The first few days he was screaming for his mother, but after a while the Dementors began to kick in."

A few days later, the group was in the kitchens enjoying a snack. A few of the house elves came up to them, looking distressed and disgusted.
"What's wrong?" Hermione asked. The house elves glared at her.
"You are making Dobby crazy, miss," they told her, "Dobby thinks he can be a free elf. Dobby is wrong."
"What? But you all shouldn't have to work! You can be free and make your own decisions!" Hermione argued.
"Miss is wrong."
Dobby suddenly came running up to them, looking frightened.
"Mister Potter! Mister Weasley! Miss Granger! Miss Lupin-Black! Dobby needs help!"
"What's wrong, Dobby?" Aurora asked, crouching down to his level.
"Winky is very drunk, miss. Winky drank a lot of Butterbeer," Dobby told her.
The surrounding house elves groaned and scrunched their faces up in disgust.
The students walked over to help their friend.
