"So, you're saying that Sirius Black escaped Azkaban to come after you?" Ron asked. Harry nodded grimly, which made Aurora pale.
"I'm sorry," Aurora mumbled.
"No, no princess it's not your fault," Harry told her, grabbing her hands.
* * *
A few hours later, the train suddenly stopped. Rain was pounding on the windows. The thunder was clapping loudly, followed by strikes of lightning.
Ron stood up, about to leave the compartment. "We're there? Excellent, I'm starving."
"We can't be there yet," Hermione said, glancing at her watch.
"I think something is getting on board," Aurora told them. Suddenly, the train lights went out.
"I'm going to go ask the conductor what is going on," Hermione announced. She walked to the compartment door, when someone from the outside opened it.
"Who's that?"
"Who's that?"
"Ginny?"
"Hermione?"
"Sit down," Hermione suggested.
"Not there! I'm there!" Harry exclaimed. Ginny eventually found an empty seat.
"Who stepped on my foot?"
"Sorry!" a voice said. It was Neville.
"Quiet!" a horse voice whispered. There was dead silence. Suddenly, the compartment door opened once again. It was the weird cloak thing. It glanced at each person, before stopping at Aurora It began to take its hood off, starting to suck out her soul.
Aurora saw Harry collapse next to her, his head falling into her lap.
"Harry, Harry, are you alright?" Aurora said softly, gently poking his cheek. Harry sat up, confused. His face was pale and there were beads of sweat on his forehead.
"Here," Professor Lupin said, and handed him a generous amount of chocolate.
"I'll go speak to the driver," the man announced. When he looked at Aurora, she had a nonchalant expression that could fool anyone.
But him.
He saw the worry and fear in her eyes, much like Sirius had. He noticed her shaking hands, much like how he would do when something was wrong. He kissed her on the forehead and walked out, making a mental note to talk to her later.
"What happened?" Harry asked.
"That was a dementor, wasn't it?" Aurora guessed, sitting back in her original seat. The group looked at her questionably. "The guards of Azkaban," she replied, noticing their faces. "I imagine they're looking for Sirius Black," Harry noticed how she didn't say dad, or father. "They make you sad. They try to make you remember the bad things. They also try to suck out your soul. I imagine that's what they were trying to do to Harry and I."
"Did any of you- you know- pass out?" Harry asked, trying to mask that he was embarrassed. He'd just fainted in front of his girlfriend.
"No," Hermione replied. "Rory looked close to, though."
"I heard screaming- a woman," Harry informed them. He tried to ignore it, knowing it's not all about him, but he couldn't get the voice out of his head.
"I heard it to. It was kind of... scary," Aurora spoke up. Her friends tried to mask the shock in their faces. She didn't speak about how she was feeling often.
Hermione looked at her friend worried. The muggleborn tried to be there for her friend, but it was rare that Rory let anyone in.
About half an hour later, the train stopped, this time when it should have, and the group filed out. They all went to find a carriage. As they were waiting, Aurora noticed that there was something pulling them, as opposed to them pulling themselves. She knew they were Therestrials, creatures that can only be seen by those who have seen death. The students rode on the carriage to Hogwarts.
As they were walking to the castle, Professor McGonagall called out to them. "Potter! Black!" she yelled, making her way towards them. "I need to speak to you two." They began to follow her while their friends looked at them. "Move along now, you two, they'll be back soon enough."
The two third years followed their Head of House through the empty halls. They eventually made their way to her office. They took a seat, and Madam Pomphrey bustled in a few moments later.
"What is it now?" she sighed when she saw the two.
"Dementors, Poppy," Professor McGonagall replied gravely.
"I have no clue what the Minister was thinking, bringing them around students!" The woman began to look at the children, checking to make sure they were alright. Madam Pomphrey shoved chocolate in their hands. "Eat this," she instructed.
"We don't need to, Professor Lupin gave some to us," Harry replied, he and Aurora giving the chocolate back to her.
"Really?" said Professor McGonagall, raising an eyebrow. "Finally, a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher that knows their remedies."
"Do you think they should spend the night in the hospital wing, Minerva?"
"No we don't!" Harry argued. "We're fine."
"I didn't even pass out!" Aurora told them.
Madam Pomphrey sighed. "Alright. But if either of you feel out of sorts, I want you to come straight to the Hospital Wing. Do you understand me?" she left after the two gave her a nod in conformation.
"Potter, please wait outside while I speak to Miss Black about her course schedule," Professor McGonagall ordered. Harry went outside her office and stood in the hall. A few minutes later, he was joined by Ariana and Professor McGonagall. The three walked to the Great Hall in silence.
"Oh no, we've missed the sorting," said Aurora, gasping. They both sat next to their friends and began to eat.
After the delicious feast, Professor Dumbledore stood up in front of his podium to make his usual yearly speech.
"Welcome, to another wonderful year at Hogwarts. I am happy to announce that we are having two changes in staff this year. First, I would like to welcome Professor Lupin, who will be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts this year. Good luck professor." Everyone clapped lightly, except for those who were in the same compartment as him when the dementors came. "I would also like to announce that, unfortunately, our previous Care of Magical Creatures professor has decided to retire to spend time with his remaining limbs. Taking his place will be our very own Professor Hagrid!" There were some cheers, mostly from the Gryffindor table. "It has been said by the Ministry that Sirius Black has escaped Azkaban." the hall erupted in whispers, staring or pointing at Aurora, and the Weasleys, Hermione, and Harry glared at them while Aurora began scratching herself again. "They have sent Dementors to Hogwarts in hopes to catch him. I want you to remember that they are not to be taken lightly. In dark times like this at Hogwarts, the best thing to do is turn on the light."
After his speech, the Headmaster dismissed the students. They began to walk to their Common Rooms.
The Gryffinfour, Seamus, Neville, and Dean all stopped in front of the portrait of the fat lady. She was singing and refused to let them in, seeing as they didn't have the password.
Suddenly, Ginny came running up from behind them. "I have it! It's Fortuna Major!"
The fat lady continued to sing until she basically gave up, hitting the glass against her wall, pretending she smashed it. "Look at that! I did it all with my voice!"
"Fortuna Major!" the group yelled.
"Yes, yes, very well," she said airily, letting them in. Aurora said goodnight to her friends and walked upstairs to her dorm.
I don't own Harry Potter. The series belongs to J.K Rowling. I only own Aurora any anything that wasn't in the Harry Potter books or movies.
