Something was wrong with Aurora.
Her friends didn't know why, especially Harry, who she was closest with (which is somewhat surprising considering he was there as Professor Umbridge was calling her parents monsters. However, at the same time, it wasn't surprising considering the boy was clueless). Harry repeatedly asked if she was okay after she returned late at night after her first detention with the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, but each time he concernedly asked her, she said she was fine.
The pain continued as the week went on. Aurora and Harry went to detention, Aurora had to write those hurtful words on her hand, Harry was dismissed, and Professor Umbridge placed the cruciatus curse on Aurora. It wasn't so much of the physical pain she was feeling, more of the mental pain that the harmful words created that had an effect on her.
Her parents weren't monsters. Aurora knew that. Sirius wasn't really a criminal, and Remus wasn't dangerous. But somehow, having the words engraved in her skin made some voice in the back of her head tell her that it was true.
But if her parents were monsters, then what was she?
A monster too, of course. She was a monster for being able to see the future. She was a monster for wanting to have some sort of bonding with her father. She was a monster for wishing that it was her spending time with him instead of Harry.
She was a monster for being the reason Cedric was dead.
Did Aurora even deserve to have friends? Did she deserve to have wonderful parents? Did she deserve to be loved?
Those were some of the only questions Aurora didn't know the answer to.
Everyone in her family was a monster, in fact. Her father's side of the family was, for being Death Eaters and siding with the Dark Lord. Her grandpa Lyall was for somewhat causing Ferir to bite Remus. Her grandma Hope was for not making her cookies when she was three.
Everyone had a bit of a monster inside of them.
But the girl needed to learn that.
I don't own Harry Potter. The series belongs to J.K. Rowling. I only own Aurora and anything you don't recognize from the books or movies.
