Umbridge

About halfway through the ride, the snack lady came through their compartment area, asking if they would like anything from the trolley. After taking their friends orders, Harry and Aurora got up to make their purchases. As they got in the line, the two saw Cho Chang, who ignored Aurora and said hello to Harry.

"H-hello," Harry stuttered back, walking backwards into their compartment and shutting the door after walking into it when it was closed.

Aurora rolled her eyes jealously at the two and proceeded to get snacks for the group.

A few hours later, the Hogwarts Express reached Hogwarts. Everyone got off of the train excitedly, a few even jumping for joy. Aurora walked with Harry, Hermione, and Ron, the latter two which had returned from their prefect duties about an hour prior, into the Great Hall.

The first thing the fifth year students noticed as they sat down was that there was a pink wart-like person sitting in the Defense Against the Dark Arts seat.

"That's Umbridge! She was at my hearing!" Harry exclaimed, then proceeding to tell the group about how she didn't want him to be able to return to Hogwarts.

"Umbridge? More like Umbi-"

"I don't understand why she would do that," Hermione said, cutting Aurora off.

"Is she even qualified to teach us? No offence, but I don't want a dirty rag for a professor," Ron commented, letting out an 'ouch' after Hermione smacked him on the head and scolded him for insulting a teacher.

A few moments later, Professor Dumbledore began his yearly speech. Halfway through it, however, he was cut off by a small- yet still annoying- 'hem hem'.

The students quietly gasped. Nobody had stopped their headmaster from talking before, especially Snape, who constantly rolled his eyes in distaste for the man.

"Thank you Headmaster, for your kind words of wisdom. How lovely to see all your smiling faces shining up at me. I'm sure we're all going to be very, very good friends," the woman began to say.

None of the students were smiling.

"The Ministry of Magic," she continued, "has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be of vital importance. Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historic school, progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected, and prune practices that ought to be prohibited. Thank you."

Nobody clapped for the woman as she sat down.

Dumbledore continued his speech, acting as if he wasn't rudely interrupted a few minutes prior. After he finished, delicious and large amounts of food appeared on the house and staff tables, and the Great Hall occupants began to eat.

"Am I the only one who didn't understand a word that hag said?" Ron asked, his mouth full of food.

"Why didn't you listen to her words?!" Hermione exclaimed, disappointed in her friend, "Well, it was a load of hogwash any way. What she was saying basically meant that the ministry is going to take over Hogwarts."

The group sat, wondering what was going to happen.

I don't own Harry Potter. The series belongs to J.K. Rowling. I only own Aurora and anything you don't recognize from the books or movies.
