Location: Travult city

A SWAT MRAP rolled down the street with loudspeakers strapped to the sides. Air raid sirens blared across the city and police cars blocked entrances to roads leaving the city.

Loudspeaker: This is the TPD, the city is being placed under quarantine. Do not leave your homes. Do not interact with other people. Stay isolated. Anyone attempting to leave the city will be shot.

The sound of sirens filled the air as ambulances and other EMS units responding became more common than anything else. The hospitals across the city were overwhelmed as the number of sick people increased with every day.

On the second day the DCM moved in with multiple task forces. Each task force had 30 ambulances, 2 mobile treatment centers(a bus with medical tents and DCM workers accompanied by a box truck filled with more supplies) 50 SUVs, 2 hazmat/rescue units similar to what fire departments have, 10 supply vehicles, and 3 helicopters. These task forces were given orders for every task possible, most teams were assigned to treating the injured but the less lucky were assigned to body disposal.

At this point the virus was almost 100% lethal and it would kill someone in three days on average. Because Travult has a population of just under 1 million this was a massive problem, hospitals first started using parking lots to store the dead, when that failed the dead were stacked. Finally on the third day they were burned by DCM flamethrower crews. The third day also marked the point when the TPD had fully collapsed to the virus leaving the DCM on its own. The Army had been called in to take the place of law enforcement and people tried to escape the city only to be shot. Every single one of them tested positive for the virus later.

A sane person will think "how did about 1 million people get infected in 6 days(the virus had gone on for a few days before the quarantine was announced)?" The answer is parties, a massive party is held once a year in Travult. Most businesses set up small stands at the party and almost every civilian attends. The police and fire department would be waiting in the area cordoned off for the party for any emergency. When patient zero came to Travult for a week to attend the party be infected most people he came in contact with, those people infected more people the next day. These infected people interacted with cops and firefighters who after the party would go to emergencies and accidentally infect patients. As you can see this would spread the virus fast. This also ignore tourism, people visiting for the party or for the fact Travult is a gambling town would bring it to their towns and cities causing outbreaks there. 

Immediately the DCM realized the problem with travel and closed New Orderian borders. All access to Remnant was halted and all Remnant DCM units were ordered to track down anyone who came from Earth in the past week. The DCM also contacted the CDC and WHO to alert them about the virus and to check anyone who had left New Orderia in the week. Luckily due to the recent war travel to New Orderia internationally has slowed so the number of people who had entered or left was low. The DCM also closed all cross country busses or passenger trains to stop large crowds contracting the virus between cities.

The people in Travult who had not died yet were pissed off. Medical aid had effectively ceased to exist after hospital staff passed away and the Army had to put more resources into stopping escapes. One person decided to get into a sports car and armor it up. This guy then got 3/4ths of the way out when an attack helicopter fired an air to ground missile which stopped that then and there. Numerous other attempts to escape were made and fires broke out as infrastructure failed. The observation tower(biggest building in the city)had burned down and collapsed and a car accident cut the power.

Gunshots could be heard daily as soldiers shot people trying to break quarantine and as survivors fought for resources and against wildlife. Speaking of which mountain lions roamed the streets looking for food. DCM, police, and military helicopters patrolled the city and spotted numerous cases of graffiti calling the DCM liars and mentioning end times. A live stream on the internet had also caused backlash for the NO military forces. The live stream mentioned how food was starting to go bad but the military refused to send in more. The problem with this was the reason food wasn't being sent in was protesters. The protesters would stop military convoys to the city in an attempt to end the suffering caused by the quarantine which would stop supply shipments meant for survivors. This problem was handled when a German company was contacted to get riot control vehicles outfitted with water cannons. These vehicles would then escort the supply convoys allowing survivors to not die to lack of food and water.

In total 1.24 million people were killed by the AF virus and the entire thing was traced back to a single soldier assigned to the Fractured Dawn operation who got it from another reality when he stopped someone attempting to break into a New Orderian facility.
