Let's Roll

Location: Goalaria

McReary jumped out of the helicopter immediately after the door opened. Around him were tons of soldiers and cops all looking for anything similar to Vale. A GPD captain waved over the arriving NCSO deputies and McReary followed his friends in.

Captain: Glad to see you here. Now tell me, what do you remember about Vale?

McReary: The gas was a greyish, slightly green color. It was transported in a van about that big.

McReary pointed at a GFD utility unit behind him. Said utility unit had two firefighters working on gas masks and handing out filters. In the rear there were tons of gas masks and boxes of filters. The police captain wrote down everything that was said and asked the other deputies the same question.

McReary was put into a SecDiv deputy unit and was ordered to patrol. SecDiv has the ability to deputize anyone in New Orderia, even if they aren't a citizen, and give them a rank equal to that of any LEO in the nation. Because they have this system they can provide patrol cars that are marked SecDiv with Deputy written under the badge to the personnel. Because LEO units from other areas were arriving by air these patrol cars were pulled out and put on the streets.

NORD had also pulled out everything possible, old engines that were nearing 100 years old were being deployed just to get more men out there to handle the coming attack. Goalaria called in every off duty cop, firefighter, medic, and worker to prepare for the worst. DPW set up emergency shelters with decontamination and airlocks. The fire department was going around giving out gas masks. The cops were kicking down every door related to cults and insurgents, even people on low threat watchlists were raided.

McReary had a hunch that he knew where the gas would be. He drove his patrol car into the place he spent most of his life in and got out. You see, his family is from Remnant, they lived in the first village NO forces made contact with and he was saved by the soldiers. Many members of this village lived in one neighborhood, and one person in this area happened to be deeply religious. Now this isn't deep like prays constantly, more like "strap an IED to your chest in the name of god" religious. He was radical but only spoke in secrecy while living under NO rule. Only members of the cult he was in and the former villagers knew about his lunacy. Because of this he wasn't on any watch list and the government wouldn't approach him until they kicked down every other door. What made McReary go after him specifically? This man also ran a small factory that produced weedkillers, meaning he had a lot of chemicals on site and the manpower to make... oh I don't know... a bio weapon in the name of his god?

McReary got up to the door and checked himself over. He radioed to dispatch about the location and was ordered to wait for backup. He would have if he didn't see a van being loaded with canisters by men that were definitely not generic blue collar workers.

McReary: Alright McReary, you got this. Let's roll.

McReary aimed his pistol at a cultist nearest to the van and shouted an order.

McReary: Police! Hands in the fucking air!

The cultist turned and reached for his waist, McReary saw this and opened fire on the man. The other cultists started shooting back and McReary ran for the van. The keys were still in the ignition so he redirected the van to ram into a telephone pole half a block away and turned on cruise control at 10 MPH. The van drove forwards and crashed gently while McReary killed more cultists.

McReary moved forwards shooting the cultists that stood up and grabbed an AR-10 off a corpse. He started shooting with that as sirens got closer. He noticed the cult leader he met when he was younger running for for a room on the top floor of the factory and fought his way up the stairs. Bullets flew and McReary was hit in the vest once and another time in the left shoulder. He ignored the pain and kept running up. He turned a corner and was attacked by a cultist armed with a switchblade. His vest blocked the first two jabs but the third was aimed for his head, by that time he pulled his taser and shocked the cultist. When the cultist dropped McReary zip tied him to a railing before continuing across the catwalk.

McReary: NCSO! Come out with your hands up and I will ask the DA to go easy on you!

Cult leader: The will of the lord is the trial, I will start it here if need be.

McReary saw the man grabbing a small silver stick from a crate with a few canisters around him. McReary ran forwards and tackled the man. The two wrestled over the deadman's switch before McReary heard a click. The cultist's hand was on the button and the man started to laugh.

Cult leader: Well deputy, your life or the lives of others? Pick.

McReary grabbed the man's hand and before he could do anything McReary shot him. He stood holding the dead man's switch as he radioed for the bomb squad.

The entire GPD arrived and evacuated the area around McReary while the bomb squad defused all the bombs. A GFD hazmat team was simultaneously gathering up all the gas containers and handing them over to the arriving military forces. McReaty eventually got to let go of the switch when the police and military EODs agreed there was no more explosives. McReary let go and there was another click and he braced for impact. A few second passed and the deputy realized he wouldn't die. He began to celebrate when the bullet lodged in his arm shifted causing immense pain. GFD medics swarmed him and he was rushed to the nearest hospital with a massive police escort.

McReary was given the SecDiv Officer Bravery Award for his actions. The cult leaders were rounded up and put on trial the NO way. They were then executed in the most ironic way possible: poison gas. Normally gas as a means for execution is banned in New Orderia but for this case an order was given from the capital to do it. NO high command has a sick sense of humor, "you wanted to kill people with a gas? Well right back at you bucko!" The cult members were given prison sentences or were put into psychiatric facilities(many members were brain washed and were found insane by the courts) for their involvement in the attacks.

A/N: Sorry for the silence, I wanted to post this chapter sooner but I have one brain cell so it took longer than I wanted to come up with ideas. As compensation for the wait have this picture I took of FDNY rescue 1.
