Do Your Duty pt 2

Location: Irradiated exclusion zone, Goalaria

Time: 0900 local time, day 3 of incident

POV: Corporal Vask, 38th NO combat engineering division

We reached the GATE 15 minutes ago and holy shit did something go wrong here. There are civilians across the streets, vomit and blood around the bodies. I can taste metal already, they told me that after this taste I won't be living much longer. Just build the dome and do my duty.

POV: Commissioner Haver, Goalaria Fire Dept.

Our numbers dropped to 190 and we are only 45 minutes into the exclusion zone. People keep dropping from the radiation. One thing is certain, these men are fucking heroes. We are building a lead plated dome over a portal leaking radiation at a dose equal to that of a nuke. I wish they could let me close this thing but it is too risky. To convince me they told me how it worked. It is a black hole held in place. If it closes it could temporarily dismantle reality around it. Then it unleashes radiation and goes through an explosion. It has sunk ships that can take shell after shell. 

Soldier: Fuck!

Me: What is it soldier?

Soldier: I am coughing up fucking blood! God damn this shit hurts. It hurts to breathe.

Me: Just do what you can, keep working as long as you can, maybe we can limit the other team's deaths if we get enough done now.

Time skip:

POV: None

Time: 1130 local time, day 3 of incident

The crews working on the dome were doing rather well all things considered. More than a third of the dome was finished and more of it was in place waiting to be fully secured. Only 64 of the first team was alive and they had the goal of hitting halfway by noon. A third team of volunteers was organized in case the 2nd team was unable to finish the dome.

Time skip:

Radio: This is Sergeant Donahue with the Goalaria Police Department, halfway done with the dome, the rest of team one is deceased, we did our job, signing off for the last time.

Loudspeakers: Team 2, enter the exclusion zone at this time, good luck, do your duty.

Firefighter: Let's fucking do this boys! See you on the other side!

The second team passed the barriers and did a jog towards the GATE with their equipment.

Ruby: What happens if this doesn't work?

Officer: It better, or else they just threw away 500 lives. Those men aren't coming back though. The third team is going to have hell as well but at least they won't be exposed to it directly, just the shit on the ground.

Officer 2: Fuck it, I'm going to chase down the 2nd team, you in?

Officer: Might as well try and help them. No point in whining if I can actually go in.

The two officers ran off after the team with some extra tools and basic hazmat gear, not like it would do anything.

Time skip:

Location: Goalaria incident command post

Time: 1230 Local, day 6 of incident

Loudspeakers: This is Marshal Ventuas, good work to everyone who responded, you are heroes, decontamination efforts will continue with the 45th and 71st but all other teams can return to your posts. Those of you assigned to the Vale quarantine are not to report back however, report to the NO headquarters and await the rest of your divisions.

Yang: Are they abandoning Vale and the things keeping out those zombies? They can't do that!

Ruby: I am sure they have a reason. It is for their own safety that the zombies don't leave so they have a plan or something.

Log: 

Marshal Ventuas: 

Ventuas has displayed himself as a brilliant military strategist and his capabilities as a leader to sway opinions of others. The Marshal it equally brutal in his tactics which has earned him reprimands before reaching his current rank. There are very few Marshals in the NO military, each is the leader of a dimension, the only exception is the 3 on Earth. Ventuas was originally one of those 3 but due to the trouble the WF terrorists have caused Ventuas' less than appealing work was needed to put down the insurrection and anyone who wishes to aid it. Ventuas above all else is the top military commander of all NO forces across the nation with the only individual above him being the NO leader himself. On remnant he ordered the use of a HAVOC class hydrogen bomb on  insurgent base followed by continuous shelling with a ground assault after the previous attacks. The only resistance was a few teams of insurgents who managed to get lucky and survive with minimal injuries. These teams were wiped out by ground forces quickly.

Commanders under Ventuas:

General Heyman:

Heyman is known for his quick thinking and ability to adapt. He is often assigned to new environments and instructed to gain a foothold in a region. After this he is redeployed or operates using espionage and hit and run tactics. On remnant this is best shown during first contact when he ordered a convoy to take control of a town, rescue civilians, and flee without a trace in under 2 hours.

General Sherman: 

Sherman is best known for his quarantine procedures, he is the writer of protocol 18 and his most successful military operation was Evans City where the SA virus broke out. He also planned the attack on Mount Chills New Orderlands to wipe out SA-3 and prevent a breach in the quarantine he also set up. On Remnant he designed the current Vale quarantine and is planing the future of Vale operations as of the time you are viewing this Log.
