Guardian

The war with China had ended rather quickly but it didn't cause peace. It caused the opposite in fact. With NATO prepared to go to war and China thinking an attack is coming something is bound to happen. China had formed an alliance with North Korea, Iran, Russia, and a few smaller nations. New Orderia sat in the middle of the shit show because of how it has gotten involved in the past. NO and NATO command realized that if they wanted to survive they needed to stop the spread of Chinese control. NO officials also pointed out the fact China is supplying insurgent forces in New Orderia which was enough to get international aid with the terrorist problem.

Location: Dalnax, New Orderia

US military helicopters flew over while NO forces pushed from the opposite direction. In the days prior the city was encircled by NATO forces and would be attacked from all sides over the next few weeks. They would push forwards to the center of the city and take out most of the insurgent leaders.

That was the plan at least. The attack had begun but their was a problem, a minor issue that had not been thought of, hell it was so absurd that it was not even on record for the past hundred years. But somehow if fucking happened.

Guardian: The Guardian project had been cancelled a hundred years prior and most documents had been discarded or destroyed when ONI was phased out. It was the greatest idea ever if it worked. It had been shut down but the facility remained buried under the snow. Guardian was 300 robotic warriors. Perfect killing machines, each had dual machine guns loaded 7.62 armor piercing and a shoulder mounted rocket launcher with 20 missiles each. They were outfitted with thermal cameras and had a simple jet pack. Why was it shut down you may ask? They couldn't tell what was a non combatant or what was even friendly.

The insurgency had noticed the attack and activated all of them at once. All 300 perfect killing machines, that cannot tell friend from foe, and will attack any human it sees, and it can fly. I don't need to explain why this is bad.

Radio: 21-3 to command, we are taking losses!

Radio operator: How many insurgents are there?

Radio: None, it is this fucking robot! It is bulletproof and mowing us down! Oh shi-

There was a crunch and the radio went dead. An American AC-130 circling overhead spotted the robot and zoomed in. Across the city soldiers were ambushed by robots and command panicked. A full retreat was ordered and more soldiers were called in to stop whatever the fuck that was. Because the documents were not online and kept in storage in a random filing cabinet in the capital any hope of the military figuring out a weakness was gone. The only thing they could do was keep shooting and hope it would break the fucker.

Location: Dalnax city

A few soldiers were walking down the snow filled streets passing abandoned cars and trucks. The sound of distant gunfire echoed while they attempted to get their radio fixed.

Soldier: 44-3 to dispatch?

Soldier 2: That ain't doing shit you know.

Soldier: Shut the fuck up Manny. 44-3 to anyone, do you copy?

The radio continued to short out instead of giving a response. They had been hit by an RPG 30 minutes prior. The vehicle took the impact and the soldiers were fine but the radio had been disabled. Manny reached out and grabbed the radio before hitting it on the back of an abandoned police car. Immediately the radio turned on and the soldiers heard what was happening in the other parts of the city.

Radio: USMC Foxtrot 21 to anyone, we have been overrun by those fucking droids. We are at 54th and Davis.

Radio: 67-5 to dispatch, our helo was shot down at the Chinatown Plaza, requesting airlift, we are surrounded.

Radio: Negative, no aircraft are able to reach you, head west to Melganith and link up with the soldiers there.

Soldier: Fucking shit. What was that about droids?

Soldier 2: Dispatch this is 44-3, we have just regained contact after an RPG disabled our radio, what happened?

Radio: Be advised 44-3 the insurgents activated approximately 90 robots, they are armed with dual machine guns and rocket launchers. Where are you currently?

Soldier: A block south of the Pine View mall.

Radio: 3rd Armor to 44-3, we are retreating towards your position, we have taken heavy losses but will swing around to pick you up.

Radio: Head to the Pine View stadium for airlift out once you link up.

Soldier: Affirmative.

The soldiers ran to the intersection as tanks rolled towards them. An APC pulled up and some soldiers in the rear pulled the stranded troops in. The rear tank turned its turret and fired an HE shell onto a building only for a rocket to impact the turret and cause the ammo rack to explode. The tank crew climbed out of the burning wreck and were mowed down by 7.62. The driver was the only one to get out alive and was also pulled into the APC

Soldier: We are taking fire at Pine View and 22nd, requesting CAS support.

Radio: Denied, we have no aircraft to spare. All personnel be advised, you are facing Project Guardian, there are 300 robots, they are equipped with dual machine guns, missiles, and a jetpack. Aim for the box mounted on the back, it is where the motherboard is stored.

Radio: Affirmative.

The column retreated into the stadium to see 6 transport helicopters waiting. Soldiers had regrouped and were being swapped out for a second group. This second group had been briefed shortly on how to kill the robots and would take over the operation for the next day while the current soldiers were reorganized. The column ditched the vehicles at a staging area outside and climbed into a transport where they were then airlifted out of the city. Dalnax had been abandoned for some time and because of this CAS support was given anytime it was available. There were bombers flying over and AC-130s unleashing hell on buildings as more and more jets flew in to keep up the barrage.
