Firefly Begins

Location: NO 2nd Naval-Recon Joint Fleet, Southeast of Atlas

Time: 1130 hours local time, day 1 of Operation Firefly

Objective: Defend Atlas from insurgent threat, unknown origin.

NO pilot: This is the NOReD 7th fighter squadron to Atlesian 1st fleet, requesting docking perms for the NO 2nd NR fleet.

Atlas pilot: Permission granted, proceed to southeastern docking bay 1 through to whatever number you need. All bays up to 45 are clear.

NO pilot: Copy that, 2nd fleet follow us in.

NOSS Cerberus: Copy, following.

Time skip:

Location: General Ironwood's office

Ironwood: What are you trying to propose?

Tau Overseer: We offer counter terror raids and defenses and you aid us in doing so. We will need any intelligence you have to work effectively however.

Ironwood: Only the White Fang operate here. I am sure you are aware of them.

Overseer: You are hiding something. Tell me what it is and we will handle it. The man we know is an insurgent is a human. So unless the WF terrorist are changing their core ideas you aren't being transparent.

Ironwood: Fine, do you know who Salem is?

Overseer: Yes, but we know very little about her if she is real.

Ironwood: She is, and she is sending pawns to topple Atlas.

Overseer: Fret not General, Tau is the enforcers for a reason. We will break the terrorist resolve soon.

Location: streets of Mantle, Day 2 of Operation Firefly

Time: 1900 hours local time

Loudspeaker: All citizens, get off the streets, stay in your homes for your own safety.

Tau 9 Commander: Breaching in 3. 2. 1.

There was an explosion and the IDTF team stormed an apartment. One WF member tried to run but was tackled and hit with a baton. 3 WF members were put into cuffs and dragged onto the street.

Tau 9 Commander: You are accused of anti government activity, the court has found you guilty and sentences you to be shot. Any final statements our wishes will be recorded.

WF member: Fuck you!

WF member 2: Please, I have a family!

There was a burst of gunfire and the bodies were loaded onto a truck. Throughout the night similar raids were carried out. As it got closer to morning soldiers finished with checkpoints.

Location: With team RWBY and JN(P)R, streets of Mantle

Time: 7230 hours local time

Ruby: What is with the water?

Blake: I don't think it is water

A team of Atlas soldiers tossed a corpse into the back of a truck. Another team of NO soldiers were directing civilians away from the gruesome sight of 8 bodies pilled onto a wall. Some NO soldiers were hopping into the sewer system and a moment later there was gunfire.

Mantle civilians were clearly not happy about a group of soldiers doing what looked like(and was) executions. A man in a grey officer's uniform stepped forward.

Overseer: I am the Overseer for IDTF Tau. What you see here was a raid on a WF hideout. Remain calm, the threat was handled.

A Faunus teenager grabbed a brick and threw it at an IDTF soldier which hit the truck beside him. 2 more IDTF soldiers ran forwards and used pepper spray on the Faunus before grabbing and dragging him to another truck. 

Overseer: Do not resist, we have a job to do and it isn't pretty. If you decide to attack us we will treat you the same as a terrorist like the White Fang degenerates.

Civilian: What makes them degenerates? You Atlas bastards have done less for us than they did!

Overseer: We are not with Atlas, we are here to stop a threat that will kill all of you. The White Fang is a small part of this larger terror threat. I assure you, it is your best interest to aid us.

Jaune: Is it just me or was that not reassuring?

Ruby: Was he talking about Salem?

Blake: I feel like this guy doesn't like Faunus.

Soldier: I think you need to move along and stop looking into classified information.

Ruby: We are huntresses and hunters.

NO Soldier: Just follow me for a bit, you shouldn't be over here talking about stuff like that.

Ruby: How do you know about Salem?

Soldier: We were sent because we found a plot to attack Atlas, Tau got assigned.

Blake: Tau?

Soldier: IDTF team, brutal, they are enforcers, they use fear to control a population. Raids, beatings, pepper spray, whatever they think will stop the threat. 

Weiss: That is unlikely, Atlas will look out for their citizens

Soldier: Thing is Atlas is helping them, you saw the Atlesian soldiers helping with the cleanup. They are our support units. We call them to aid after or around the raids.

Radio: Alert, bombing reported, grid 256.

Soldier: That is a few blocks from here, nice talk, stay safe!

The soldier was jogging towards a plume of smoke in the distance. A NOLAV pulled up and he hopped onto the side before being driven away.

Loudspeaker: This is General Ironwood, all citizens return to your homes, there has been a bombing. Martial law is now in effect.

Air raid sirens went off and a fire truck passed the two teams. Every billboard in the city ordered people to go to shelter or face the consequences. This in mind they also went to a hotel nearby.

Operation Firefly objective updated: Defend Atlas from Salem, minimize civilian deaths. Additional combat units routed. Command handed directly to Marshal Ventuas, Tau Overseer no longer in command.
