Location: Dalnax

A squad of NO soldiers rode in an LAV, on both sides abandoned cars and the bodies of civilians. They turned right when they saw an ambulance riddled with bullet holes and medics slumped over beside it. The LAV driver's helmet said "Best Driver in the 53rd!" and his name tag said "Specialist Ventuas".

Ventuas: Hey sergeant, why of all places did they put us here?

Sergeant: Because command is 100 miles away drinking booze while we die. But orders are orders and we have civilians to save.

Soldier: Do you think any of us are getting medals for this?

Ventuas: Hopefully, at the very least a ribbon.

Sergeant: Ventuas the only thing we are ever going to get is a Purple Heart and a get well soon card signed by Marshal Hernald.

Soldier: Didn't he botch some classified operation recently?

That operation he is referring to is Golf 45, one of New Orderia's failed attempts at understanding the multiverse. They conveniently found a reality as it was about to collapse, and made the choice to save every civilian on it. Somehow they didn't entirely fail with the help of literally god. Of course one person was left behind, PFC Pavel from the New Orderian army who got knocked unconscious and was abandoned in a random Japanese city.

Now what is their objective? Reach a DFD station being used as an evacuation site. The block the station is on is effectively being guarded by the remains of the DPD who are protecting hundreds of civilians. This LAV is their reinforcements and will set up a landing site with it's equipment. From there soldiers will be airlifted in and civilians airlifted out. At this point ground evacuations are a bad idea considering that the highways are lined with destroyed evacuation buses and corpses. Insurgents wanted to crush the populous' spirits and then say NO forces abandoned them. The civilians are being targeted because every death is someone the government couldn't save, which will push people to distrust the government and possibly revolt.

The LAV screeched to a halt at a roadblock, people with rifles stood but they didn't have uniforms on. The sergeant grabbed a megaphone and prepared to give them an order to identify themselves when they raised their rifles. Immediately it was clear that they weren't cops, why exactly? They had AKs. They opened fire and Ventuas put the LAV in reverse, as they reversed the gunner unloaded at the insurgents with the 50 cal. Unfortunately lackluster armor around the turret resulted in the gunner being hit. The squad medic ran over and pulled the gunner out of the turret ring while rounds impacted the glass.

When Ventuas had the room he did a J turn and accelerated away. The sergeant looked out the window and noticed a yellow light and smoke following them and yelled at Ventuas to swerve and for everyone to brace. Ventuas tried to turn a corner but before he could the LAV's rear bumper was hit by the RPG. The LAV spun out and the entire trunk was blown off, shrapnel tore through the LAV killing a soldier and injuring another in the back before grazing the sergeant's shoulder. The LAV rolled from the blast and skid across the asphalt. Smoke filled the inside of the wreck and the sound of flames was prominent.

The sergeant was the first to get out of the wreck and he immediately got the rear door open for the surviving soldiers. One exited bleeding and the sergeant dragged out the gunner. Ventuas struggled to get his door open and proceeded to kick it. After the third kick it flew open and he crawled out with his rifle. The sergeant and surviving soldier were already opening fire on approaching insurgents.

Sergeant: 53-3 to dispatch. The point was overrun before we got there! We have taken casualties and need CASEVAC ASAP!

Radio: 10-4, CASEVAC will arrive in 6 minutes.

Ventuas moved into cover awhile his leg felt like it was on fire. He looked down and realized that the wreck had shattered his shin, it was snapped halfway through and noticeably bent. He ignored it and returned fire on the enemy. The surviving soldier happened to be the medic but he was focused on holding back the enemy so the injured soldiers were unlikely to be treated.

Ventuas: Can we get any CAS at least sir?

Sergeant: Good idea! 53-3 to dispatch, we need CAS immediately or we won't be able to hold out.

Radio: Sorry soldier, no available bombers as of now. When one finishes a run or has some of its payload remaining it will be routed.

Sergeant: Shit! There goes our one way out of here.

Ventuas reloaded his rifle and returned to shooting at the insurgents. It was 3 versus 30 and the soldiers had already been fucked up by the RPG. The insurgents also seemed to be growing in numbers, odds are they called for backup. The soldiers were surprised by an attack from the rear and Ventuas turned to engage the threat. He got 5 shots off before being hit in the chest and head. His jaw and cheek were crumpled by 7.62 and rounds tore into his vest. His gas mask shattered and the glass splintered into his eyes. He fell over and the other soldiers jumped behind a wrecked taxi. They dragged the gunner into cover as Ventuas bled out on the ground.

The sergeant seemed to perk up for a bit and yelled something into a radio. Ventuas heard a light thumping and saw the rotors of an attack helicopter appear. The helicopter hovered above the wreck and fired rockets at the insurgents, after the rocket was fired it opened up and thousands of flechette darts riddled the insurgents. The helicopter's machine gun then unloaded pure hatred on every survivor and it launched two HE missiles at a insurgents hiding behind cover.

The helicopter continued to hover over them and fire it's weapons as a transport flew over. The transport's door gunners unloaded 50 cals at anyone the attack helicopter somehow missed and landed at an intersection. Soldiers secured the landing site and three ran over to the injured men. They lifted Ventuas onto a stretcher along with the dead soldier and the gunner and moved them into the helicopter. The medic and sergeant got in and then the team securing the area loaded on. The helicopter slowly took off while medics worked on the injured men.

Upon landing at the NO FOB the injured were moved to a field hospital and the dead soldier was put into a body bag. All surviving soldiers received a Purple Heart for their injuries and were given a ribbon to add to their dress uniforms. Ventuas received a promotion to corporal, the medic got a promotion to specialist, and the sergeant got a promotion to sergeant first class.

Well that was the origin of Ventuas. A random soldier sent to die in Dalnax who got lucky, survived long enough to get a command position, and then proved himself in Remnant getting himself to Field Marshal. Hope you all enjoyed, next up is the Giallo Tower fire.
