Now that XiChen and Jiang Cheng were free, they explained to the Elders that they needed to go and see what was happening on Phoenix Mountain. SiZhui and Jin Ling wanted to come too, concern for Wei Ying and Lan Zhan outweighing all decisions.

However, there was a delay because Jin Bendan was insistent on more of the Jin contingent accompanying them, especially after they had quizzed Jiang Cheng for answers and found out that Wei Ying could rid them of the pink slime.

So in the end, a group of fifty Cultivators rode out on their swords, ready to tackle whatever was on the Mountain.

**********

Wei Ying was leaning back against Lan Zhan, waiting for the noise to stop and for whatever it was to reveal itself. The shuffling stopped and Wei Ying guessed that whatever it was, had stopped at the mouth of the cave.

All was still and silent as they hardly dared to breath...

And then out of nowhere came the unmistakable noise of a loud sneeze, loud enough for echoes to surround them but worse than that, the hugest, biggest blob of pink slime was aiming straight for them, and only due to Wei Ying's quick reflexes, the resentment energy flew straight out of Chenqing and formed a shield around them. The slime slid to the ground which had begun to shake, and they were truly mystified as to what it could be.

The shuffling resumed and Wei Ying thought that the thing was not yet aware of their presence.

Louder and louder, and now Wei Ying had to hold onto Lan Zhan because the ground was shuddering and shaking. From the edge of the precipice, huge boulders began crashing down the side of the mountain, shattering trees and other obstacles as the ground began to crack and tear.

And then another sneeze, this one much louder than the one before, but Wei Ying was prepared and their protection was maintained.

And in the mouth of the greatest cave, stood a giant of a man.

His size was easily that of twenty cultivators stacked one on top of each other and he was muscular and stocky and wide, and Wei Ying had never seen anyone like this before. His hair was a halo of blonde curls that shook even as he sneezed again.

"It's a giant..." Wei Ying breathed out.

"Mn."

They sat as still as they could, but the giant had not noticed them yet, too busy sniffling and trying to wipe his nose on his sleeves. He sat down on the  ground and they were treated to yet another earthquake.

When the dust settled, Wei Ying stood up. Lan Zhan moved slightly in front and made him smile. Wei Ying shifted Lan Zhan's hair and kissed his neck. Lan Zhan shivered and smiled, turning his head to catch anything Wei Ying would say.

"Thank you for protecting me." He whispered.

"No need."

He knew Wei Ying would understand both meanings: that there was no need for thanks, and that Lan Zhan was fully aware that Wei Ying could protect himself, but it was just one of the many things he felt better about doing instead.

"But Lan Zhan, do you think we won't be able to talk to him normally? I don't even know if he can hear us were we to shout as loudly as we can..."

"Wei Ying can try." Lan Zhan told him.

They walked up to the giant, and Wei Ying was taking in his appearance. His feet were what was fascinating about him; they were round almost like that of an elephant with the same toes. But his hands were normal like human hands.

Wei Ying shouted, waving his hands in the air, but the giant didn't even notice him.

"I've got another idea, Lan Zhan, but you're not going to like it."

Lan Zhan grabbed his upper arm to hold him still.

"What does Wei Ying have in mind?" His eyes were tight with tension.

"I want to fly up there so he can see me."

"No."

"Why not?"

"He could mistake Wei Ying for a fly and swat him. It is too dangerous."

"What if I'm careful?" Wei Ying asked, grinning.

"No."

"What if I concede our bet? You can be the winner and I will make good on my promise?"

Interest and hot desire flared momentarily in those golden eyes, but Lan Zhan shook his head.

"No. Wei Ying must not put himself in danger."

"Then, it looks as if we are at an impasse."

Just then, the fifty or so cultivators including XiChen and Jiang Cheng, SiZhui and Jin Ling arrived, amidst shouts of disbelief.

And Lan Zhan was right, fifty of them attracted enough attention but of the wrong sort, because the giant waved his huge hand and managed to catch a few unsuspecting cultivators, knocking them off their swords. Wei Ying flew up into the air to catch them before they got hurt.

"Didi, are you alright?" XiChen hurried up Lan Zhan. "What is that thing?"

"Wei Ying says it is a giant. So far we have been unsuccessful in gaining it's attention."

"All fifty of us would not be enough to take it down." Jiang Cheng said, still in awe over the sheer size of the giant.

But Wei Ying dropped off the last few people he had caught, and flew up, right in front of the giant, where the giant could see him. Lan Zhan was just about to mount Bichen when XiChen stopped him.

"Wait Didi, let's see what happens. We won't let anything happen to him."

Lan Zhan nodded but stayed alert.

Up there, Wei Ying flew into the giant's line of sight. Here he could shout, and hopefully the giant would be able to hear him.

"Hello? What's your name? Where have you come from?" He shouted.

But to his shock, the giant's eyes filled with tears, his bottom lip quivered, and he shouted, "I don't know. I'm lost...and I don't feel so good."

He sneezed again while crying, and all the people waiting near his feet were covered in pink slime.
