Lan Zhan and Wei Ying found themselves on the main road as the city began returning to life after a night of rest.

People preparing to open their shops were sweeping the previous day's dust from their thresholds, others walked on by either on their way to the local temple for morning blessings, or to perform some daily tasks. Flower sellers were opening their stalls, and Wei Ying paused at one lady's counter, because she had already displayed her wares.

"We'll take one bunch of these." Wei Ying told her, pointing to a bundle of blue gentian flowers.

Lan Zhan had pulled out his purse already and paid the lady, and Wei Ying tucked the flowers under his arm as they carried on, just as urgently as before.

Sonething was wrong with Lan Zhan and Wei Ying was determined to find out what it was.

Luckily they found a nice hotel just opening for the day. Wei Ying was glad for this but at the same time, he knew himself, and this issue whatever it was with his husband, meant that Wei Ying didn't actually care where they slept today; he was all about finding a nice quiet place they could have some privacy.

They were given a room immediately.

Wei Ying pushed Lan Zhan onto the bed and arranged himself upon his lap, wriggling just so, to become more comfortable.

Lan Zhan was smiling at his antics already, and that was a good start.

Wei Ying tilted Lan Zhan's face up, angling his his own lips to meet sweetly with his.

Lan Zhan only had moments to take in the paleness of Wei Ying's skin, the tight creases at his eyes and the smokiness under them; sure signs that Wei Ying was tired.

They had walked long and far this night, progress was good due to unhindered roads, but now he wanted Wei Ying to sleep. So he kissed his husband back just as sweetly, keeping his thoughts focused on only that and not how much he wanted to rip his clothes off.

"Wei Ying must rest." He said, as soon as he was able to.

Wei Ying's robes had already loosened, and a delectable bare shoulder was gleaming, the smooth skin far paler than his kissed-by-the-sun face.

Wei Ying answered by wrapping his arms tightly around Lan Zhan’s neck, pressing himself so close to his husband that neither could tell whose heart was beating the loudest.

"I cannot." Wei Ying whispered, softly.

"Mn?"

So much more than a mere question.

"I cannot rest until I know what's wrong. Won't you tell me, my love?"

His even softer voice washed over Lan Zhan, both healing and asking for trust.

This was their safety, the place where both of them could simply be, without judgement.

No need for saving face, or anything else just as ridiculous. Here, they were just themselves.

"At first, wanted to know why Wei Ying was looking at me...like that?" Lan Zhan held him closer, listening to the soft sounds of his breathing.

Wei Ying rested his cheek on Lan Zhan’s shoulder, trying to send him peaceful vibes and worrying that it wasn't enough. This time to just be, with the other half of his soul, it was sorely needed. Like a balm on an open wound, they needed each other more than air, more than anything else.

"Oh...Well, it's just that you're so sure when we're travelling. I mean, a certain area or, say a crossroads can look the same as any other, but you just know. Like you know exactly which direction we have to go in, and you're never, ever wrong...and I don't think I ever told you how...hot that is!" Wei Ying kissed the side of Lan Zhan’s neck, pressing himself even closer.
