Lan Zhan wasn't speaking to him.

Wei Ying kind of understood it because after the last time when Dunshi had slobbered all over him, and he had expressly forbidden such behaviour, Lan Zhan had only been slightly mollified.

Right now, he was furious.

If he was just angry, Wei Ying could deal with that. Angry could be fun. It wasn’t as bad as livid, because that was five degrees worse, but still manageable.

Furious was much harder to deal with.

To make matter worse, Dunshi had grabbed everyone and bouyantly made his way to the dining rooms reserved for the rulers, and all along that way down the spiralling staircase, Lan Zhan had not uttered a single word.

Not even a "mn".

When Dunshi had put him down, Lan Zhan had dried him off by whipping out a towel in silence, glowering all the while. Wei Ying had apologised profusely and then Lan Zhan had glared at him, effectively shutting him up.

He was still sticking close to him, which was of minimal relief, but Wei Ying was feeling unbalanced by this.

As before, they sat around the huge table just as Juda and his friends were getting up.

And then to everyone's surprise, Juda and his friends bowed to Dunshi. And then to Rhouzhe too. And then they smiled and waved and walked away.

"Omg...Lan Zhan! I think it worked!" Wei Ying was so excited about that, that he clutched Lan Zhan’s arm forgetting that he was still angry.

"What did you do?" Hongse asked, suspiciously.

"Um..." Wei Ying looked around for help, but Lan Zhan was studiously ignoring him and Hui Gai busied himself with combing his fingers needlessly through Li XiWang's hair...also not looking at him.

All four Flowers Of Venus stared at him pointedly, folding their arms across their chests.

"I think I can guess." Master Dashi said, a twinkle in his eyes.

There was no choice, he would have to admit to what they did.

"While we were up on top of that mountain, I thought of something that could help Dunshi with his situation. I mean, ever since we met with Juda...and how horrible he was being with Rhouzhe...if she felt she had no choice except to marry him to keep Dunshi safe...I've been trying to find a solution." Wei Ying felt the weight of their stares, but more importantly, he could sense Lan Zhan listening intently to what he was saying at least.

And that was an improvement.

"Fighting was out because of the obvious size difference, and there's only so much we could say to convince them to change their minds, whether it be Juda or his followers...so when we saw the Jiyi Huifu flowers and I remembered that the flower itself restores memory, but the leaves make you forget, I knew we had our solution. No violence necessary because the problem would take care of itself. So earlier, we went and dumped some powdered leaves in their stew and it seems to have worked because just look at the personality change..."

Wei Ying had been excited to start with, but now he was worried that his plan would found wanting and met with disapproval. He looked down, waiting for what they were going to say.

His hands were folded in his lap and he seemed to shrink into himself.

That's when a pale hand stole over to separate his two, and intertwine those paler fingers with his. Lan Zhan was now glaring at the others, daring them to say a single bad thing about his Wei Ying.

Wei Ying glanced in his direction and hoped the softening look in his expression was true.

"Oh my word! That's just...just GENIUS!" Hongse nearly shouted, startling them all. "I don't know why I didn't think of that!" She declared.

"Because you are not Wei Ying." Lan Zhan stated as if it was obvious.

Wei Ying bit his lip to stop the onslaught of hysterical laughter that threatened to leave his mouth at that...it seemed he was finally forgiven.

He squeezed the hand holding his, waiting without breathing until Lan Zhan squeezed back, and Wei Ying couldn’t hold back any more. He flung his arms around Lan Zhan’s neck, holding him tightly.

Lan Zhan only realised something was wrong when he felt the telltale trickling of water down his neck.

"I'm sorry...I didn't know he was going to kiss me." Wei Ying was sobbing.

And then Lan Zhan felt bad for making him cry.

"I am sorry too. I was...angry at him. Not Wei Ying." Lan Zhan held him tighter, kissing his hair.

"I...I felt alone." Wei Ying shuddered.

Lan Zhan felt worse about that.

"I will make it up to you." They both said at the same time, and then Wei Ying smiled at him.

Lan Zhan wiped his face with a soft white handkerchief.

"I will buy you moon cakes." He promised.

"They're seasonal." Wei Ying grinned.

"I will learn how to make them." Lan Zhan vowed, determination blazing in his eyes.

"Um...you know that time, I was only pulling the Jins' legs. You don't have to make them."

Lan Zhan pouted.

"So!" Hongse said, loudly trying to catch their attention but smiling broadly at how they had made up so sweetly. "Are you saying that Juda is no longer a problem then?"

Wei Ying nodded, trying to return to his seat for proprietary's sake, but Lan Zhan held him still. So he gave up and relaxed against a strong chest instead.

"We "cured" Juda, made sure Rhouzhe is safe, Dunshi is back with his people and Master Dashi has got his memory back." Wei Ying held up his fingers and crossed out each thing by folding a finger down each time.

"Does that mean we can go home?" Li XiWang asked, hopefully. "I miss Cloud Recesses and SiZhui-Ge. And Uncle XiChen...and Uncle Cheng...and the rabbits...and Uncle Ning..." her list was getting longer.

"Yes it does." Wei Ying said brightly. "It means we can go home."
