Fiolina walked in an hour earlier as usual and sat at the table in front of the counter, chatting with Addison while she snacked. For the first time, the conversation didn't have anything to do with boys, much to Addison's delight. It was something she can finally relate to.
FOOD!
"Yeah and the keel part of the chicken is the best for barbecue," Addison added, her mouth watering at the thought.
"What's a keel?" Fiolina asked, much to her surprise.
"You've never been grocery shopping?" Addison asked, her eyes wide with surprise.
"No?"
"Oh my gosh..." Addison shook her head.
"Am I supposed to know what a keel is?"
They were both startled when the welcome tune suddenly blared. Addison quickly straightened herself and greeted the customer.
"Good evening..." Addison stopped short when she realised who it was. "Jake...?"
"Yeah, hi, Addie," Jake greeted, giving her a lazy wave.
"What brings you here?" Addison asked.
"Shopping?" Jake shrugged. "Speedmart's out of bread. That's why I came here."
Addison nodded and watched as he went towards the shelf of bread, grabbing two large loaves at once. Then he started loitering around, taking whatever else he wanted.
Fiolina waved her hand at her, questioningly gesturing her head towards Jake. Addison motioned her to wait and took her phone out. Fiolina understood and took her phone out too.
Addie: He's my landlady's son
Addie: Sometimes picks me up from work
Fio: OH!
Fio: He's kinda cute tho
Fio: Why don't ya make a move?
Addie: No.
Addison looked up just in time to see Jake come towards the counter, putting whatever he took in front of her. She put her phone aside and started scanning the things.
"That's a lot of Itchy-Bun," Addison chuckled, packing everything in a plastic bag.
"Yeah, I like the cheese-flavoured one the best," Jake chuckled. "It's a good snack, very filling too."
Addison agreed and handed him the bag, taking the payment. She returned his change, together with the receipt, and smiled.
"Thanks for stopping by, Jake," Addison chuckled.
"You're welcome, Addie," Jake smiled. "By the way... how long more till the end of your shift?"
Addison looked at the time. "Five minutes?"
"Alright, then I guess I'll wait for you," Jake shrugged.
He looked over at the table near the window. Fiolina stared back at him with her mouth full of potato chips, not sure what she should do. Jake decided to perch himself on the chair in front of her.
It was pretty awkward, considering that the girls couldn't even have a casual conversation now since there was an elephant in the room.
Or at least, there's a Jake in the room...
The five minutes crawled by like five hours and Fiolina quickly went to the backroom to change. Addison soon followed and just grabbed a few sausages and pies for dinner, not even bothering to heat them up before paying.
"Ready to go?" Jake said, getting up.
Addison nodded and stuffed the bag of food into her backpack. She gave Fiolina a quick wave and followed Jake out.
"Is that the girl that Jordan's dating now?" Jake asked as they walked to his car, which he parked near Speedmart.
"Yep," Addison chuckled. "That's Fiolina. I shouldn't have taken her to the Sundeer in Alford. She said she wanted to give him a piece of her mind for ditching me. But she ended up hitting on him. And now, they're dating."
"Well, good thing too since he's carpooling to college with you again," Jake pointed out, fishing his keys out of his pocket.
"Well, I guess that's one good thing that came with his breakup," Addison shrugged, taking her backpack off as she opened the front passenger door of the Kia Optima. "By the way... I almost forgot. Jordan's been lying to her about... something. I need to confront him about it."
"What did he do this time?" Jake sighed, going over to the driver's side. "It's always something stupid with him."
"I'll tell you later," Addison frowned, hugging her bag close to her.
Jake shrugged and started the car, driving home.

Addison came downstairs for Jake's 'tuition' class. Well, all they did was study a bit, snacking for the most part, before going back to their rooms. It was Sunday, after all.
She went back to her room and hopefully turned the television on to see the night news for updates on the Superhero's whereabouts. She's been doing this for more than a month now, but nothing was mentioned about the hero.
"Breaking news, Superhero of Spring Valley makes an amusing comeback," Addison sat up as soon as the chirpy newscaster announced this bit of news. She scooted to the edge of her bed and watched open-mouthed as a video of the Superhero doing a mixture of the floss dance and the twist in a dark alleyway was shown. "The local Superhero was seen doing funny dance moves in the alleyway next to a cafe in Spine Street."
Addison started laughing as she watched the masked Superhero doing funny dances in an alleyway. It wasn't really clear that it was him since his mask couldn't really be seen under the dark lighting. But once his hands started glowing, there was no mistaking it, especially when the light consumed his entire frame and disappeared together with him.
"Besides funny dances, our legendary Superhero was also spotted rescuing a girl from a mob of gangsters earlier tonight," the newscaster continued. "The hero also made sure to safely hand the victim over to the police station to receive the help she needed."
The screen then shifted to a girl, whose face was censored to maintain privacy, wrapped in a blanket as she sat on a chair in the police station. The poor girl was clearly shivering as she gave her statement to the policewoman in front of her, a steaming cup of coffee held in her hands.
"Poor girl..." Addison murmured, shaking her head as she watched, drinking it all in.
"The victim's parents have been called for and we're glad that the Superhero managed to intervene before anything misfortunate could happen to the young girl," the newscaster went on. "The gangsters have all been arrested and locked up. But what's unfortunate is the fact that the Superhero disappeared before anyone could question the reason for their absence ."
'Why did he disappear...' Addison wondered with a frown. 'Hope he wasn't sick or anything...'
Then again, the Superhero seemed happy enough, even dancing around when there was no one around. Well, his funny dances were now recorded and viral on social media, even appearing on the news.
Addison was relieved to know that the Superhero was okay. He probably disappeared just to have a time-off for himself, getting a well-deserved rest.
She sighed and turned the news off, plugging her USB drive into the tv to play music while she started getting her things ready for school. The weekends seem to take forever to come, but only take a few seconds to go.
Addison looked at the time and realised that it was nearly midnight. She sighed, thinking about waking up early for college the next morning and got ready to turn in for the day.
Her mind was at peace now that she knew the Superhero was alive and well, enjoying himself in another corner of Spring Valley.

Woo! Superhero is back! I like how he was even dancing as he made his entry lol. But yeah! Now that he's back, things are gonna get exciting!
