She took the free bus this time, and got off at the stop nearest to the place she rented. She walked the rest of the way, and the tenant in the neighbouring room had a few guests over, ones that lingered in the hallway. Addison inwardly groaned and walked past them to her room door.
"You saw the news?" Addison couldn't help but overhear the two girls' conversation. "Another mob was teleported right to the police station!"
"Imagine the policemen's reaction when a gang of rogues appeared out of thin air," the other girl, with curly blonde hair,  chuckled. "They were probably like 'ah here we go again'."
They giggled, but then moved on to watch footages of the town's supernatural hero in awe. Addison frowned and entered the room, locking the door behind her.
Something mysterious was really going on in this town, and Addison was beginning to doubt it. What if the entire thing was a whole load of photoshopped bullcrap?
She sighed and threw her bag on her chair before tying her wavy brown hair up into a high bun. She grabbed her towel and went to the attached bathroom to take a quick shower before dinner.
It was a good thing she managed to grab a few tacos and a sandwich from the convenience store she worked at. She turned the television on and plopped onto her bed, clad in pyjamas, to watch the night news over dinner.
The footage that Fiolina showed her not too long ago was featured in the news, this time with censorship on the victim's faces. The so called superhero was barely a blurry shadow among the bright white light they appeared in. The victim, a middle-aged man, stood rooted to the spot, not knowing what he just witnessed.
'This is getting creepy...' Addison thought, swallowing a mouthful of taco. 'Who are they...?'
It was Friday, so she got to sleep in a little later. She still had work, though, but at least she didn't have to go to college.

Addison arrived ten minutes earlier and sat at the table near the window with a cup of coffee and a barbecue chicken bun. She watched Jeff tend to a group of teenaged girls running late for tuition class stopping by for a last minute snack.
Jeff sighed when they left the store, giggling and swooning over some cute boy they get to meet during tuition. Jeff shook his head and sank back down on his stool. He looked over at Addison, who still sipped her coffee.
"So how was college?" Jeff smirked, watching her take a long swig.
"It's Saturday," Addison deadpanned. "No college today."
"That's nice," Jeff chuckled. "So you got to rest today."
Addison gestured towards her surroundings. "I'm at work." She frowned at Jeff and noticed how tired he looked, with sunken eyes. "Are you okay? What time did you sleep last night?"
"Do I really look that bad?" Jeff scowled.
Addison nodded. "You have classes today?"
Jeff nodded, tight lipped. "Remedial class... at night..."
"Aww that's awful!" Addison sympathised. "Your college is really cruel."
Jeff nodded sadly. Addison finished her coffee and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. "Which college do you go to?"
"Harvington," Jeff quickly said with a frown. "You know that place, right? At the end of town?"
"Yeah," Addison said with a nod. "I go Alford."
She stood up and made her way to the back room after throwing her cup of coffee away. She took over and soon Jeff left on his bike, after getting himself some SlurpSlurp and chips. He always seemed to be eating junk food, but still managed to function well.
Addison waved him off and sighed. It was the next few hours before Fiolina would walk in. She was just glad that she took part time and not full time. Or else she wouldn't even have time to rest.

Fiolina rushed in, with yet another video of the town's new superhero. This time, they teleported a poor dog that almost got ran over by a truck and teleported an entire bus to safety to avoid collision with a reckless lorry.
The lorry driver on the other hand was teleported straight to his employer, who instantly got a message from a private number, informing them about their worker being a reckless driver.
"I've never seen such efficiency in my life!" Fiolina swooned. "Even the police won't take action this quickly!"
Addison bit her lip. This was true. But who is this person? How come they have powers? And why doesn't Addison have something like that? She thought it was a little unfair...
Addison just smiled at Fiolina and went to the fridge to grab a bottle of soda and a chocolate bar from the aisle before heading back to the counter. She scanned the barcode and paid for the things before stuffing them into her backpack. She headed to the back room and changed before heading out the door.
Addison heaved a sigh of relief as soon as she stepped out. Fiolina may be fun and friendly, but she was a little too much on the gossip of the town. She was already swooning over the fact that a superhero actually exists, in their town at that. Addison wished the person was born into a different part of the world, and not in this town. Not even in this country,
She decided to have ramen for dinner that night since it was pretty cold, and ramen actually offered some warmth, being spicy was one of the reasons. Addison never really liked spicy food, but ramen made an exception. For some reason that even she didn't know.
This time, she didn't even bother to watch the news since Fiolina was giving her a head start whenever she called in for work. And whatever she showed her played again in the news, but censoring the faces of the people shown. Addison just hoped that it would never be her. Censorship or not, the raw footage was being released in whatever social media platform that Fiolina seemed to love. Addison never knew what it was.
She went to sleep a little later, after studying and finishing some of her schoolwork. It was a busy week, and Addison wished she could enjoy like some of her college friends that only seemed to care about fun.
She decided to wake up late, since she didn't really have any class the next day, but she certainly had work. It's not like her work was stressful or anything, but sometimes it was just plain boring.
