Yes, I just had to add that KOF picture.
Addison didn't have anything to do since it was a Saturday morning. She didn't have to go to work till that afternoon.
She decided to whip out some needle and thread to sew her torn hoodie, playing music with the television. She planned on taking it and her other clothes, to the laundrette later.
So she sat on her bed and hummed while working the needle through the torn fibres. She was glad that it wasn't so obvious since it tore near the stitches itself. She looked up from the needle when someone knocked on her room door.
"Addie, are you in there?" Felicia's voice came.
"Just a minute!" Addison called back.
She did the last stitches and secured it with a tight knot. She tore away the extra string and placed the needle and thread back into her sewing kit before tossing her hoodie aside. She fixed her hair a little and opened the door to see Felicia.
"Hi Felicia," Addison greeted. She spotted a plastic container in her hands, but decided to just ignore it, and stepped away from the door to let her in. "Sorry about the mess, I was tired last night."
Addison paused the music and pulled the desk chair, offering Mrs. Kennedy to sit.
"I brought you some leftover pie from last night," Felicia said, handing the container to Addison as she sat down. "Anyway, are you okay? What happened last night?"
Addison hesitated. "I was attacked by a mob, but luckily the Superhero jumped in... again."
"Oh my gosh, what happened?" Mrs. Kennedy asked. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Addison smiled. "Just have a slight headache after falling down."
She decided to keep the fact that she was knocked unconscious a secret. And also the fact that the headache was anything but slight.
"Are you sure, honey?" Mrs. Kennedy asked, concerned.
"I am, Felicia," Addison smiled. "Just tore my hoodie a little. It's all good now."
Mrs. Kennedy smiled and got up. "I guess I'll be going now. I'll be downstairs if you need me, okay?"
Addison nodded with a smile, getting up to see her off, though it was her own house. The container of pie on the table caught her eye as soon as she closed the door.
'Well since I only had one bun for breakfast, might as well feast on some pie,' Addison smirked as she opened the container. She grabbed a fork from her table and started eating the pie. She thoroughly enjoyed it last night, and now she thought it tasted better than when it was still fresh.
'Thank goodness for a landlady like Mrs. Kennedy,' Addison smiled as she ate.The pain grew a little when Addison neared her working hours. So, she decided to just call her boss and call in sick, saying she had a massive headache. It wasn't a lie, she did have an ache on her head.
But she still had errands to run.
Begrudgingly, she grabbed her bag of laundry and a plastic bag of recyclables before going downstairs. She went to the kitchen and emptied the contents of the plastic bag into the bins that Felicia neatly arranged. Each bin was even specifically labelled for recyclables like plastic, glass, cans, and Tetra Pak. Addison was careful to wash the milk carton before throwing it into the bin.
She stuffed the plastic bag into her tote and turned to leave. She almost jumped out of her skin when she bumped into Jake, who was entering the kitchen.
"Sorry!" Addison quickly said. "I didn't see you."
"It's okay," Jake said, his mouth full. "Sorry to have startled you."
Addison smiled. "It's fine."
Her gaze fell on the bun that Jake was eating. It had a yellow wrapper, and it was definitely a cheese-flavoured bun from the Itchy-Bun brand. The same bun that the Superhero stole from her bag...
Addison made her way out, thinking that it was just a coincidence. After all, lots of people eat that bun, even herself. She just shrugged and took out her phone to book a cab.Addison walked into the laundrette and made a beeline for a vacant washing machine. She stuffed her clothes into the washing machine, grimacing at the stench as she did. Addison made it a point to use the bottle of hand sanitiser in the bottom of her bag.
She inserted some coins into the machine and sat on a bench to wait for her clothes to wash.
"Oi!" Someone called.
Addison looked up from her phone and didn't see anything. So she went back to her phone.
"Addie?" Addison looked up from her phone again. To her surprise, Jeff stood in front of her, a brown duffle bag under his arm. "What are you doing here instead of going for your shift?"
"I called in sick," Addison explained as Jeff sat down in front of her. "Anyway, you don't have class?"
"Nah, my professor shifted it to morning," Jeff shrugged. "Had to rush for work, but least I can sleep well later. Anyway, you don't look like you're sick. Playing truant, eh?"
Addison glared at him. "My head hurts. Had a hard fall."
Jeff frowned, getting up with his bag. "Does it still hurt?"
Addison nodded. "It does. That's why I didn't go to work."
Jeff opened the washing machine and filled it up with his dirty clothes. "How are you feeling now?"
"I'm okay," Addison said, turning slightly to face him. "I'm just glad the Superhero came in when he did."
"You see him so often," Jeff chuckled, folding up a black hoodie before stuffing it into the washing machine. "And I'm just here with zero experience."
Addison snorted. "Just get yourself into trouble, you'll be seeing him too."
"That's some really bad advice there, Dietitian," Jeff solemnly joked. "What are you trying to do? Get me killed?"
"Maybe?" Addison chuckled. "Nah... who else am I gonna lecture about SlurpSlurp?"
"Nice one," Jeff snorted. "Anyway, wanna grab lunch? I'm starving!"
"You came here straight from work?" Addison asked in surprise.
"Yeah..." Jeff said sheepishly. "Saturday's my laundry day. I gotta admit, it's stinking my place up..."
"Where do you live anyway?" Addison got up, following Jeff out.
"I rented a room near Harvington," Jeff explained. "Quite near too, within walking distance."
"That's nice," Addison said, blindly following Jeff. "I carpool with one of my housemates. He goes to Alford too, so he doesn't really mind." She stopped short when Jeff stopped next to his bike. "Uh... where are we going?"
"Lunch?" Jeff stated the obvious. "You wanna come, right? I was thinking that we should go to Dan's Diner? You're okay with that, right?"
"Sure..." Addison said. "All I had was a bun, some pie, and milk. The Superhero stole my bun last night..."
"Your bun?" Jeff repeated doubtfully, mounting his bike. "You mean... hair bun?"
"Idiot..." Addison carefully sat behind him, making sure that there was at least an inch of gap between them. "He stole my favourite cheese-flavoured Itchy-Bun!"
"He stole your food?" Jeff put his helmet on. "How?"
"I dunno, he must've taken it off my bag when he tried to wake me," Addison instantly regretted. "Nuts, I shouldn't have said that..."
"You mean you were knocked unconscious?!" Jeff turned to her in surprise, his face hidden behind the visor of his helmet. "Addie! What exactly happened?"
"Was attacked, and I guess the Superhero took me home..." Addison sighed, holding onto the seat as the bike suddenly moved forward. "And yeah, he stole my bun..."
"Well, I don't blame him," Jeff shrugged, riding into the main road. "That teleportation stuff seems like hungry work..."
"It is..." Addison agreed. "You should've seen him when he stumbled into the convenience store. It looked like he had been running a marathon!"
"You better rest, Addie," Addison barely heard him over the roar of the bike. "A concussion is not a joke... I've seen the worst ones back in the school's medical team."
"You were in the medical team?" Addison asked in surprise.
"Red Cross Society," Jeff explained. "I was always on duty whenever it came to Sports Day or Road Run."
"That's nice," Addison chuckled. "I was in the Red Cross too, but... I was never an active member."
Jeff snorted. "Since when were you even active?"
"Very funny, SlurpSlurp," Addison frowned. She was thrown forward slightly when the bike ran over a stone on the road. "Ouch what was the point of that?"
"Could you just grab on properly?" Jeff said in an annoyed tone. "The road's bumpy. As it is, you aren't wearing a helmet. And you're recovering from a concussion."
Addison frowned. "No thanks... I don't like touching people."
Jeff shook his head and continued riding.
"How far is this diner anyway?" Addison asked, still refusing to hold onto him.
"Almost there," Jeff said without turning away from the road.
The bike came to an abrupt halt, making Addison head-butt Jeff by accident. Poor Jeff was almost thrown off by the impact.
"If you wanna be safe on my bike, you better hold tight," Jeff scowled. "Otherwise, get off."
Addison scowled. "Fine, whatever..."
She was forced to hold onto his shoulders. Even then, she only pinched the fabric of his coat.
