Addison sighed and got dressed to go downstairs for Galante Class. He even texted her a reminder so that she wouldn't miss it. She grabbed her things and made her way down to attend the class. At least, everything was back to normal.
Jordan was back to being his cheerful self, and Galante wasn't drunk and dancing around breaking tables. Addison half regretted not filming the incident. Then again, that might've ruined the poor guy's reputation.
Permanently.
Addison shuddered at the thought and made her way downstairs. She spotted Felicia watching TV and greeted her as she made her way towards the dining hall where the three men were already seated at. Addison perched herself beside Jordan and took her books out, trying her best to not groan at the thought of having Galante Class after a long break from it.
"Alright, can we start now?" Giuseppe announced as soon as she sat down.
Addison stopped short from rummaging in her bag and looked up. "Wait, have you guys been waiting for me?"
"Not long, you came in just after Jordan did," Giuseppe shrugged, pointing a hand at the redhead. "So yeah, we haven't really been waiting that long."
Addison sighed and took her stuff out, placing them on the table. "That's nice of you guys. Thanks."
Giuseppe smiled and went right to teacher mode. Jordan was made to show most of his works since he was out of the picture for the most part.
"Sir, you who went out of the picture for the most part too," Jordan pointed out. "Last week..."
Galante immediately stopped bugging him and started giving them more essays to do. Addison shot Jordan smirk before going back to her writing.***
Addison was a little annoyed at the fact that Jake had yet again bailed on picking her up. Not that she could complain, it was a free ride anyway.
So she just packed herself a small dinner and made her way out of the shop, ignoring Fiolina's advice of taking a PickYou car. Addison crossed the small street and strolled towards the main road, where the bus stop sat. To her dismay, the bus was much too far away for her to catch on foot.
At this point, she wasn't even surprised at getting left behind. Addison simply sighed and buried her hands into the pockets of her slacks as she started navigating her way home, music played in her mind and she even considered fishing her earbuds out to listen to the song that stuck itself into her head.
Addison concluded that it would be unsafe, especially when doing so in a night in Spring Valley. She decided to play the song as soon as she safely got home. That's something she looked forward too.
In the present, however, Addison couldn't stop herself from singing the lyrics under breath, the sound volume increasing as soon as she hit the lonely alleyway. At least the sound of her voice would serve as a form of company.
"You can get what you want. If you wanted to, you will," Addison sang. "You wait till you see, it is not a fantasy. Make a grab for the thing, you have got in your grasp right before your ah ah eyes."
Addison sort of lost herself in the lyrics and was shocked when a much higher voice repeated the verse, just like in the original song. Her eyes widened in surprise when she realised that she wasn't the only one singing.
"Who was that?" Addison gulped.
She spotted a silhouette popping out from behind a dumpster and bolted. Addison was sure that it was a woman, a woman who didn't in the least have a singing voice that hid behind a dumpster to await her targets.
God knows targets of what.
Addison put on a burst of speed when footsteps thundered behind her. Her mind thought it was the best moment to play a song she heard from a racing game. Addison felt like shushing her brain for that but ignored it at the moment and looked for a place to hide.
A hand suddenly grabbed her arm, pulling her behind something. Addison didn't even have the time to process the situation when she spotted the Superhero with his back to her. Superhero glanced back at her over his shoulder for a moment, white porcelain masking the entirety of his face before turning back to the front. She looked over his shoulder and felt chills run down her spine when she saw a scary-looking woman running towards them. She definitely looked worse than she sounded, messy hair and tight mismatched clothes and heavy makeup. Her voice was creepy enough, but her appearance was worse!
The strange lady even had the nerve to charge full speed at the Superhero. To Addison's surprise, he simply extended his arms and grabbed the weirdo before disappearing into that mysterious light of his.
Addison stared at the spot Superhero stood in surprise, still processing what just happened. Who was that crazy lady? Addison shuddered and turned to leave but stopped short when she spotted something on the ground. It was a brown vintage leather journal, the kind that she had seen during her online-shopping sprees one too many times.
Did it belong to the Superhero? Or was it just lying here from the start?
That's what Addison wanted to know too.
She slowly unwrapped the strap around the leather cover. The loose cord fell to the side and swayed, the ship's wheel charm weighing the end down like a pendulum. She opened the leather book and found a ton of scribbles on the first page, as if someone had scratched a faulty pen all over it to get it to work again.
Before she could go any further, a bright light appeared before her. The masked face of the Superhero glared at her, dark cracks all over the surface of white porcelain. He simply held a hand out to her, beckoning for her to hand it over. Addison did so without a word and hung her head, a sheepish look on her face.
Without warning, the Superhero clasped a hand around her wrist and brought her home. The next time she looked up at him, he was hastily stuffing the journal under his coat, leaving only the unfastened cord with the charm hanging out from the black hoodie.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to know who the owner of the book was," Addison apologised. "I didn't mean to invade your privacy or anything.
The Superhero gave her a forgiving nod and gave her his usual finger guns before disappearing into his light. Addison sighed and rummaged in her bag for her keys when yet again, she spotted a fallen object.
It was a flower this time, a dry rose evidently flattened under heavy books. Addison carefully lifted the delicate flower into her hands and looked at the well-preserved rose in awe. It felt so fragile and unprotected, as if it could crumble if she just held it between two fingers. Addison pulled out the novel she had been reading and slipped the dry flower between the pages before taking her keys out to go inside.
