"And that's the last of it," Addison smiled editing the last sentence of Jeff's assignment. She got up with his laptop and went to the counter, putting it down in front of him. "How is it?"
"I think I'll turn it in tomorrow," Jeff grinned. "And then I'll celebrate."
Addison chuckled. "What are you gonna do?"
Jeff shrugged. "Wanna go to the mall sometime?"
"You're calling me?" Addison asked in surprise.
"Well, you helped me," Jeff shrugged. "I need to pay you back in some way, right?"
"You treated me to lunch once, remember? And bought me chicken pie and asked me to keep the change?"
Jeff shook his head. "Not enough."
"Jeff..."
"Just come tomorrow, we can go out."
"I have class tomorrow..."
"Oh wait, I do too..." Jeff sighed. He gasped as if he suddenly got an idea. "I'm free on Saturday morning, what about you?"
"Don't you have work?" Addison pointed out. "You're here in the morning, right?"
"I can take a leave," Jeff happily stated with a shrug. "Then maybe I can drop you off here before your shift."
"I don't wanna walk in on Bullfrog instead of you..." Addison sighed. "Also, he might skin you alive if he sees you drop me off anyway."
"Oh... you're right about that too..." Jeff nodded. "How about we go after your shift?"
"My shift finishes at nine, Jeff," Addison pointed out. "Isn't that a little too late to go loitering out? Unless you plan on going to a bar. I'm not coming in that case."
Jeff shook his head. "No, I don't drink. So what should we do...?"
"I think morning is our lot," Addison shrugged. "We can go to the mall at around seven, then hang around until around nine? Then you can go to work."
Jeff sighed. "Can't I just take a leave? I want some rest too, ya know?"
Addison shrugged. "Fine, then. What time should we go?"
"I'll inform you tomorrow," Jeff grinned. "We can go together."
Addison sighed but nodded. "In your bike?"
"In my bike."
"Great..." Addison groaned."So... you're saying that the Jeff dude asked you out on a date?" Fiolina asked, crunching on some potato chips.
Addison rolled her eyes. "It's not a date... just an outing. I did help him with his assignment, right?"
"Yeah, but he's still taking you out," Fiolina wiggled her brows, smirking.
Addison decided it would be wise to just change the subject. She knew exactly what to say.
"How are things with you and Jordan now?"
Fiolina instantly lit up. "He's amazing! Hey, he told me that he helped save a boy from falling off the building the other day! It's true, right? He told me you were there too."
"Yeah, I was there," Addison chuckled. "Wait, I have the video."
She showed her a video of Jordan struggling to pull Giuseppe off the railing. Of course, she kept the part where Jordan decided to film everything instead of helping to herself. After all, Jordan was still one of her good friends and she didn't wanna ruin his image in front of his girlfriend.
"Oh wow..." Fiolina watched in awe. "He didn't only save the guy from falling, but saved the guy who was trying to save him as well?"
"Yeah," Addison chuckled, putting her phone away. "Cool, right?"
Fiolina sighed. "I wish I went to Alford with you..."
Addison let out a humourless laugh. "Trust me, you wouldn't. There's a lot of garbage going on."
"Oh yeah, you're right," Fiolina nods quickly. "Because that Sierra idiot is there."
Addison snorted. "Yeah, and that too."
Fiolina huffed and made her way towards the snack section for a round two. Addison still wondered how she was so thin despite eating so much junk food.***
Addison awoke with a jump as soon as her alarm rang. She rolled over towards her nightstand and stopped her alarm with a groan. She stayed there like that, reloading after the restart.
A sudden vibrating noise came, startling her. She groped for her phone and saw Jeff's name on her phone screen.
'Why is he calling me now?' Addison asked herself.
She gasped as soon as she remembered the fact that it was Saturday. She scrambled out of bed, answering the call in speaker mode.
"Hello?" Jeff's voice instantly came. "Addie, are you ready yet?"
"Yeah, I am," Addison frantically answered, making her way to the bathroom. "Where are you at?"
"I'm on my way," Jeff answered. "Getting onto my bike. I'll be there in ten minutes."
"Ten minutes?" Addison stopped short. That was enough time for her to get ready. "Alright. Take your time, I don't mind."
"Alright," Jeff was evidently smirking. "I'm betting you aren't even ready yet."
"Says who?" Addison quickly said, trying to maintain a calm voice. "I'm already ready and waiting for you downstairs!"
There was a pause on the other end. "Alright, I'm putting my helmet on now. See ya."
"Okay, bye-bye," Addison heaved a sigh of relief and hung up.
She first went to the bathroom, brushed her teeth, and washed her face. Then she quickly got ready, combing her hair and making sure she didn't look or smell bad, before running downstairs.
Just as she stepped outside, Jeff pulled up in front of her on his bike.
"Splendid timing," Jeff smirked, pulling the visor up to see her. "And I thought I'd have to wait outside while you take your own sweet time."
Addison rolled her eyes. "Like I said, I was already ready when you called."
She was gonna get onto the bike but stopped short when Jeff held a full-face helmet to her.
"Wear this," Jeff said, pushing it towards her. "I ain't gonna let you break any rules."
Addison sighed and took it, putting it on before getting in behind Jeff.
"Don't worry, I just had that helmet cleaned," Jeff glanced at her. "And hold on. I don't want you crashing onto me like last time."
Addison made a taunting noise and grabbed a chunk of his coat in both hands. Jeff sighed, images of his precious leather jacket being torn to pieces filling his mind.
Of course, Addison knew better than that and just pinched the jacket instead of actually tugging on them."So this is what you meant by treating me?" Addison asked, looking at the arcade that Jeff led her to. "Arcade?"
"What, you don't think it would be fun?" Jeff asked, surprised. He closed his eyes and let out a sigh. "Well... I should've known you don't play games. Never mind, we'll go somewhere else instead."
Addison quickly shook her head. "No, no. I didn't say I don't like arcades, right? I was just a little surprised that you brought me here."
They went in and made their way towards the token machine to get some for the games. Then, they made their way towards the racing game and started having a match together.
And then they played a fighting game, bashing each other so hard that the joystick almost gave way.
"I feel like if we're here for just a little longer, we might get thrown out for cheering too loudly or for breaking something..." Jeff sheepishly stated. "Wanna grab something to eat?"
Addison nodded, realising that she forgot to eat anything in a hurry. "Sure."
They went to a restaurant near the arcade and ate. Of course, Jeff paid the bill before she could protest.
"I'm treating you out, remember?" Jeff pointed out as soon as the waiter left with the payment. Addison sighed in defeat, sinking into her seat. Jeff chuckled and leaned forward towards her. "Anyway, where do you wanna go now? We still have hours left before your shift."
Addison simply shrugged. "I don't know... you're the host here."
Jeff smirked. "Let's go for a movie."
And so, they went to the fifth floor to watch a movie. Addison refused to enter boutiques, no matter how tempting it was, fearing that Jeff might end up paying the bill there too.
"You sure you don't wanna go shopping?" Jeff asked doubtfully.
"Nope!" Addison quickly said. "Let's go."
Jeff frowned for a moment. "Can we go to the grocery store? I'm running low on stuff..."
"Sure," Addison shrugged. "Maybe I can get some stuff for myself and no, you're not paying my bill."
"Wasn't planning to anyway," Jeff shrugged, chuckling.
And so they went shopping. Not only at the grocery store but also at the stationery store.Alright, guys. I know, it seems a little boring now, especially since Mr. Superhero is nowhere to be seen. But don't worry, exciting stuff is about to unfold soon lol.
