Addison arrived early and sat down at the Academic Writing hall. She was the first and decided to sit at the front, smirking because she knew that Jordan would be cursing her for that. Then again, they never made a deal that they should sit together at every class, right?
Galante arrived next and was surprised to see only her there.
"Where are the rest?" Galante asked in surprise, putting his bag on the table.
Addison shrugged. "Don't know, sir."
They just waited, with Addison avoiding eye contact to not seem awkward. Mr. Galante's phone started ringing.
"Ciao!" Galante greeted as soon as he answered it. "What?!" Addison jumped when he suddenly exclaimed, now interested in what may be going on at the other end. "Mio Dio... where?" There was a pause. "I'm coming right now."
He hung up and put his phone away, looking serious.
"Is everything okay, sir?" Addison asked, hoping it wasn't anything bad.
"A student accidentally fell off the fifth-floor balcony," Galante stated, grabbing his laptop bag. "He's holding onto the railings for dear life!"
Addison gasped and got up. She packed everything and wore her backpack before rushing out of the hall behind Galante. They rode the lift to the fifth floor and started running towards the corridor with the only metal balcony railing. Of course, Addison was panting while Galante seemed totally unfazed. Then again, he was buff and probably worked out whenever he wasn't in college.
They both arrived to a large crowd gathered by the balcony.
"Hold this," Galante handed his work bag to Addison as he ran to the crowd.
Addison managed to spot Jordan's ginger head and went to him. She realised that he decided to do nothing but just stand there and film the whole thing.
She went to him since he was the only one she recognised. "How did he fall?"
"He was leaning over the balcony and accidentally dropped his phone," Jordan explained, looking away from his phone for a second. "He tried reaching for it and ended up falling too..."
"Oh god..." Addison anxiously watched as a few people miserably tried to help him. "How long has he been hanging there?"
"For about ten minutes now..."
"Ten minutes?"
"Yep."
Addison raised Galante's bag above her head, aiming to hit Jordan's face with it. He barely managed to dodge it.
"Addie, what's wrong with you?!" Jordan gasped, backing away from her in surprise. "Are you crazy?!"
"No, you are!" Addison blurted out pointing a hand at the clinging boy and another at him. "A guy is clinging for dear life and you're just standing here, happily filming?! Seriously?!"
The crowd suddenly gasped, earning both Addison and Jordan's attention.
To their surprise, Giuseppe was climbing the guardrail.
"Hold onto me, boys," Giuseppe said, glancing behind him. "I know you hate me, but at least help me for the sake of this boy."
Two of the nearest boys rushed in to help. Addison pushed Jordan forward too.
"At least go help, idiot," Addison frowned. "As if filming would actually do any good."
Jordan frowned and turned to the railing to see Giuseppe being held down by two boys, reaching to grab the boy.
"There's already people helping him," Jordan shrugged. "Let's just watch."
"Grab my hand!" Giuseppe shouted, holding out his hand at the boy. "Slowly, take your hand off the railing and hold mine." The boy shakily took his hand off the rail and attempted to reach Giuseppe's. Giuseppe wasted no time in grabbing it. "Good, now let your other hand go and hold my other hand!"
They anxiously watched as Giuseppe painstakingly grabbed both of the boy's hands before pulling him up. Both men were evidently trembling, especially the student. He was still hanging for dear life anyway.
The two boys that held Giuseppe slowly pulled him back up. There wasn't enough strength now that there was two times the weight.
Their hands slipped.
Giuseppe lost his cool and yelled in anguish as he felt himself falling forward than being pulled backward.
A different pair of arms quickly caught him by the waist.
It was Jordan. He did feel bad to do nothing besides film the show. So he quickly stepped forward when two pairs of arms were no longer enough to support Giuseppe.
"Guys, help me!" Jordan huffed. "Help me pull him!"
"Giordano?!" Galante exclaimed in surprise, recognising his voice.
"Pull me up, guys!" Jordan desperately cried through gritted teeth, struggling to hold him much longer. "Please!"
More people helped pull them up, and the actual victim, out of the sticky situation.
Jordan rolled onto the ground and stayed there, both shocked and exhausted. Giuseppe sat down, leaning against the wall as he caught his breath.
The student that almost got himself killed was leaning over a trash can, emptying the contents of his stomach.
"Guy must have a really weak stomach..." someone remarked.
"Then why don't you cling for life at the guardrail for more than ten minutes to see if you'll react like that too," his friend countered.
Addison stopped recording and rushed to Jordan.
"You okay?" Addison asked, seeing how he just laid still with his eyes closed as if asleep, a hand on his forehead.
Jordan just nodded in reply. Addison left him like that and made her way towards Giuseppe.
"Are you okay, Mr. Galante?" Addison asked, holding his bag to him.
Galante simply nodded and reached for his bag, immediately pulling out the water bottle in the side pocket. He unscrewed it and chugged a large amount of water, still panting.
Everyone now gathered around Giuseppe, congratulating him for his gallantry. Then again, his last name is Galante.
He slowly got up and went towards the boy he just saved.
"How are you feeling now?" Galante asked, seeing how he was now lying beside the garbage bin.
The boy sat up and nodded, gripping onto his head with a groan. "Just a headache. And nausea..."
"Can someone take him to the ER?" Galante sighed, looking around.
The boy quickly shook his head. "No, it's fine. I get sick really easily."
Everyone's attention was then drawn onto him. He was practically green in the face, trembling, and close to fainting.
"I think you should go home, buddy..." Cody, who just happened to be there, decided to say. "You don't look very well."
The boy nodded and started looking for his phone. Then he realised that it was now five floors down.
"Can I borrow someone's phone?" He ended up asking.
Addison took hers out and handed it to him. The cute wallet phone case looked out of place on him as he pressed it against his ear to call someone to get him. He soon handed it back to Addison and started looking around for his bag.
Turns out, it was right there, near the railing where it stood next to his feet before he fell. No one even noticed it among the havoc.
Addison sighed in relief as there was nothing to worry about now. She went to Jordan, who now sat on the ground, staring into the abyss.
"Oi!" Addison called, gaining his attention. "Good job there."
"Thanks," Jordan nodded, getting onto his still shaky feet. "Quite the excitement." He looked around and frowned. "Where's Mr. Galante?"
Addison turned to where he had been and saw that he was missing. He was nowhere to be seen.
"He's gone..." Addison frowned just as thoughtfully too. She sighed and turned to Jordan. "You wanna get something to eat? You look really shaken up..."
They went to the ground floor and got burgers before going back to the Academic Writing hall. No one was there, not even Galante, so they just assumed that it was class cancelled.
