"Urgh this assignment is killing me," Jeff bitterly complained, taking a long sip from his cup of lemon soda. "So much to do! Arghhhh!"
"When is it due?" Addison asked, taking a bite of her chicken burger. "I hope it isn't due this Monday."
"It's not," Jeff frowned. "It's due next month. But still. Arghhh!"
"Quit doing that," Addison hissed, annoyed with his groaning. "So how is it so far?"
"I've only written one sentence and it's already frustrating," Jeff scowled. "The professor isn't of any help either..."
"Poor you," Addison snorted. "Luckily my assignment is almost done. It's due next week actually."
"Better finish it," Jeff frowned. "By the way, you said the Superhero took you home last night?"
"Yeah, he did," Addison nodded. "It was the first time I ever saw him so close, even closer than when he walked into the shop..."
"What did he look like?" Jeff popped a chicken nugget into his mouth. "Did you see? Sorry, you're the only one I know who saw him up close."
"He was dressed in black, wearing a hood with a white porcelain mask," Addison took a sip of her ice cream soda. "His mask had black crack-like designs too. He could've been mistaken for a serial killer if we didn't know better."
Jeff nodded thoughtfully. "You're a lucky one, you know that?"
Addison frowned. "If I am, I wouldn't be seeing the Superhero so much. It only shows how much trouble I get myself and him into."
Jeff shrugged and took a bite of his burger. "But the one in the convenience store incident wasn't your fault."
"That's true..." Addison nodded. "I was scared stiff."
"Well, you didn't look so stiff in the footage," Jeff shrugged. "You even tried to wake him!"
"What did you expect me to do?" Addison blurted out. "Watch him just walk in and sleep? I needed to know if he was okay."
Jeff frowned and looked up at her. "You still better be careful when going home. You want me to drop by and take you home next time?"
Addison shuddered when thinking about riding in the back of his bike again. She was even loathing to ride back to the laundrette in a while, let alone riding home with him every night.
"Sorry, but I think I'll save you the trouble," Addison finally said. "You'd have to come all the way from Harvington to pick me up and drop me home, then go all the way home. I don't want you to go through all that trouble."
"Then at least take a PickYou," Jeff suggested. "I know it's extra money, but at least it's safer than walking through alleys and then end up with a concoction."
"Concussion," Addison corrected with a smirk.
"Whatever, you still got hit in the head and knocked unconscious," Jeff pointed out. "It's unsafe to walk alone."
"Actually it isn't as unsafe to walk the usual route home," Addison said. "If my dumb self didn't decide to use the stupid GPS for a shorter route, I would've gotten home way earlier, and without a concussion. Even the Superhero wouldn't have seen me."
Jeff shook his head. "Don't use GPS next time. It only leads to trouble, especially when walking alone."
Addison snorted. "Been there before?"
"Yep..." Jeff frowned. "Luckily, I can run fast..."
They finished their meal and called for a waiter to pay. Addison took out her wallet and started getting her money out. To her surprise, Jeff paid for everything before she could even take her money out.
"Jeff, why?" Addison asked in surprise. "I was gonna pay!"
"My treat," Jeff said, getting up. "Come on, I think our clothes are almost washed."
Addison shrugged and followed Jeff back to his bike.
"Hold on," Jeff said, putting on his helmet. "I don't wanna end up taking you to the ER."
Addison blew her tongue out at him. "Then don't.""Seriously, how much coffee do you even drink?" Addison frowned when Jeff returned to the bench with his third cup of coffee from the machine. "Do you even sleep?"
"I would if my assignment didn't say no," Jeff shrugged, blowing at the steaming cup of coffee to cool it down. "Anyway, I need to work on it to prevent myself from procrastinating."
"When is it even due?"
"In a month."
"Then why are you worrying?"
"Because I have no idea how to do it," Jeff scowled. He took a sip of coffee and looked at her as if he just got an idea. "What course do you take? Does it have Organic Chemistry?"
"Nope," Addison hid a smirk. "I take Mass Communication."
"Oh..." Jeff sighed. "Well, then..."
"Yeah, I can't help you," Addison chuckled. "I don't take anything chemistry."
"What about that friend of yours?" Jeff asked. "Does he take Organic Chemistry?"
"Uh... who?" Addison asked.
"The housemate you carpool with."
"Oh, you mean Jordan?"
"Whatever his name is," Jeff shrugged.
"No. He's taking Linguistics Degree. I share a few classes with him, Writing and Speaking."
"Well..." Jeff sighed. "Looks like I'm on my own."
Addison looked at him in surprise. "Why don't you ask one of your classmates?"
"They're jerks," Jeff sighed. He took a sip of his coffee and frowned thoughtfully. "But I think I can ask this one guy. He's pretty okay."
"Then try asking him," Addison said. "Maybe he can help."
"Hopefully," Jeff shrugged. "I think I'll call him tonight."
"No, you're gonna sleep tonight," Addison frowned. "Jeff, have you seen those eye bags?"
Indeed they were bad. He almost looked like a zombie.
"Make sure sleep, okay?" Addison said, slightly concerned. "Don't thrive on coffee and SlurpSlurp."
Jeff smirked. "Okay, Dietitian. I'll sleep early tonight."
"Good," Addison grinned. "Anyway, how long more till those clothes are dried?"
"We only loaded those in ten minutes ago," Jeff pointed out, downing the last of his coffee. "Anyway, I'm gonna go get another cup."
Addison smirked. "You know, I read somewhere that you can actually get drunk with coffee alone? All you need is cups and cups of it. Not sure how many, but it's definitely more than three."
Jeff's eyes widened. It took everything for Addison to keep herself from laughing at his comical face.
"You mean we can actually get drunk with coffee?!" Jeff asked in surprise. "AAH! I'm never touching another cup of coffee ever again!"
Addison burst into laughter. "Oh my gosh, Jeff!"
"What? It's not true?!" Jeff scowled. "Way to fool me, Dietitian."
"What, it's true!" Addison smirked. "You can get drunk with coffee. Ten cups and boom! You're drunk as a skunk!"
Jeff rolled his eyes. "Seriously? I don't drink more than five in a day!"
"Yeah, very little," Addison shook her head. "Jeff... too much coffee is bad for you."
Jeff sighed. "Fine... I agree with you."
Their clothes were finally done, so they just unloaded the dryer and went home. Jeff decided to drop her home in his bike, much to Addison's dismay. For some reason, she didn't really like riding on bikes. Especially without a helmet.
"Thanks, Jeff," Addison said, getting off the bike when they arrived at Mrs. Kennedy's home. "I think I owe you one."
"Nah," Jeff smirked under his helmet. "Also, try to not get yourself into trouble and bother the Superhero."
Addison couldn't help but laugh at that. "I wish. Anyway, bye SlurpSlurp."
"See ya tomorrow, Dietitian," Jeff waved. "By the way, are you coming to work tomorrow?"
"I think I will," Addison smiled. "I feel better now. I think I'll be fine tomorrow."
"Great!" Jeff said cheerfully. "It's kinda weird to see that cranky old Bullfrog come in to take over your shift instead."
"You mean the boss took over my shift today?" Addison asked in surprise. Jeff nodded ruefully. "Oh wow..."
"That's why I didn't buy anything for lunch," Jeff explained. "I just wanted to get outta there alive. He looked as if he was gonna eat me."
Addison laughed, trying to imagine what it would've looked like. "Don't worry, I'll come in tomorrow. You can buy all the chicken pie and SlurpSlurp you want. Okay?"
"Sure," Jeff shrugged. "Anyway, see ya. I need to work on my assignment."
"Oh okay," Addison turned on her heel. "Bye-bye, SlurpSlurp."
He gave her a two-finger salute and rode away, his bike roaring off into the distance. Addison took out her keys and entered the house. She didn't feel like going out, so she decided to just order something for dinner instead.
But Felicia had other plans. She decided to give her some of the leftovers from the previous night. The day was full of free food for Addison.
