Breakfast went well, but then they had to endure Galante's Academic Writing class. It wasn't all that bad, compared to the first few classes they had with him. Galante stopped disturbing Jordan too.
Now, Addison was riding on the bus to Spine Street for work. Jeff was behind the counter, as usual, yawning as he worked on something on his laptop.
"Another assignment?" Addison asked as she set her bag down on the chair.
"Yeah," Jeff said, taking a sip of the coffee he got from the shelf in front of him. "Already done with this one, just have to send it in..."
"Need some help paraphrasing?" Addison asked, taking out a pack of rice with curry from the food warmer.
"Nah, it's fine," Jeff said. "It's already done."
"Oh," Addison nodded and brought the rice over to the microwave to reheat it before eating. "Anyway, is that electric cooker really that good?"
"It is," Jeff nodded. "I've been eating healthier because of it too."
Addison shrugged as she punched some buttons on the microwave. "Doesn't do much good for those dark circles. Jeff, you still look like a zombie."
"And you look fine?" Jeff smirked, crossing his arms as he looked at her. "Addie, you're a potato."
Addison said nothing as she walked away from the microwave to get herself a cultured milk drink from the refrigerator. Jeff said nothing too, the humming of the refrigerators and the food warmers being the only sound that surrounded them. Addison eventually came to the counter to place the bottled drink she took before going back to wait for the microwave, not even looking at Jeff as she went off.
Jeff sighed. "Addie?"
"What?!" Jeff winced when Addison barked back like that.
"Sorry I called you a potato," Jeff apologised.
Addison just grunted in reply as she pulled the heated curry rice from the microwave. She went back to the counter and placed it in front of Jeff, scowling like an angry child who didn't get what she wanted.
"But still though... you called me a zombie first," Jeff pointed out as he scanned the things. "Doesn't that make us even?"
Addison glared at him. "Jeff, I didn't call you a zombie. I said you look like one because of those dark circles. Jeff, I'm just looking out for you. You need proper sleep and coffee isn't a substitute."
Jeff looked like he didn't know how to answer her back as she continued staring at him. In the end, he just told her the price she had to pay and handed her the receipt once she settled the payment.
"I'm just worried for you, Jeff," Addison said taking her rice and drink before making her way to the table. "You need enough sleep."
"I know," Jeff said, but said nothing more as he turned his attention back to his screen.
"And I'm sorry I said you look like a zombie," Addison added.
Jeff nodded. "Sorry I called you a potato too. Also, you should eat healthier too." He smirked. "Despite being a Dietitian, you're actually eating a lot of junk."
Addison sighed ruefully. "I should get that electric cooker. But I'm still not a potato. Got that? You see how much I eat?" She pointed at the food in front of her. "How is this a lot?"
"You're right, I always see how much you eat," Jeff crossed his arms, smirking slightly. "And I also see what you eat."
Addison just turned back to her food, feeling slightly embarrassed since what he said was true. She took out her phone and clicked on the link that Jeff had sent her the day before and ordered the cooker."You met Jordan's mom?" Addison said as soon as Fiolina gave her this piece of news. "How did it go?"
Fiolina shrugged. "She was... nice?"
Addison snorted. "Nice? Nice how?" She leaned forward, pressing her clasped hands in front of her chin. "Do tell, because I didn't see much of that 'nice' since I spoke to her yesterday."
"Well, she was actually excited to meet me," Fiolina said. "And she was really friendly too, seemed to really like me."
Addison wasn't all that surprised. "Well. I can definitely see why. She didn't like me though, because I rejected her when she asked if she could stay in my room last night."
"She wanted to stay in your room?"
Addison nodded. "For free while I paid for it. But yeah, other than being clingy like that, she actually seems really nice."
Fiolina nodded slowly. "Sounds like I need to be careful around her."
"Nah, she's nice, the two of you will get along real well," Addison insisted. "I can clearly see it happening."
Fiolina smiled. "I'm glad you think so."
Addison smirked. "Soooo, how did the meeting go?"
"It went well, the two of us got to talking, and we found that we like the same band," Fiolina frowned slightly. "Actually, I don't like the band, I just know the band and she got excited for that and made it seem like I like it."
Addison snorted. "What band is it?"
"The Chickens..." Fiolina sighed. "I don't really like them since they literally perform in chicken suits. And sing like chickens too."
"Eww..." Addison burst into laughter. "How does she like a band like that?"
Fiolina shrugged. "Some of their songs are actually... listenable..."
Addison nodded slowly. "Good to know. Anyway, I wanna know what Jordan's reaction was to all of this."
Fiolina snorted as she sat herself down with an unpaid bottle of root beer. "He was just there, awkwardly sitting while the two of us talked."
"Sounds about right," Addison chuckled. "Just like I imagined."
"Yeah," Fiolina sighed. "He didn't say much, but he did tell me that he was glad that we got along well."
"Yeah, I'm glad too," Addison said. "She seems kinda picky if you ask me."
"Oh she is," Fiolina nodded in agreement. "She shouted at the waiter just because her drink had a little more cream than she wanted."
"Oh wow," Addison was a little surprised. "I mean... I'm not actually surprised..."
Fiolina smirked. "Aight, what actually happened yesterday? Can you spill the tea? You didn't tell me properly yesterday."
"Well, it was a lot of stuff," Addison sighed. "First, Jordan gave us a scare. He disappeared so early in the morning, his car wasn't there, and his mother was demanding us too."
Fiolina nodded as she took a sip before speaking. "Yeah, I know that part. He actually told me that he went home after leaving the car in the shop. Why didn't you guys bother to call me?"
"Because Jeff said he came in alone," Addison sighed. "Whatever, his mother seemed really chill about it while we were all panicking. Eventually, he picked up the phone and told us that he would be coming."
"And he came down the stairs," Fiolina continued. "And then you and those two dudes rushed straight here to take cover with Jeff."
Addison nodded. "Yeah and I went to work and stuff."
"Tell me about the commotion that happened at night," Fiolina smirked before pausing to take a sip again. "I wanna know about that."
Addison sighed and ended up telling her everything, even whatever that happened this morning.
