Stargazing【Zane X Reader】[ Ongoing ]

[ Chapter 4 ]

Y/n's pov.

" Be back before sunset, and by then this basket needs to be full " mom passed me the basket.

" Do I have to go alone in the woods? " I asked with sparkling eyes.

" Yes, some of the supplies your gramps sent were not fresh, I want fresh ones from the woods, now go "

I was about to speak but the door slams in front of my face as I stand here holding the basket in my hand. I turn around and watch as the people of this village walk pass me in their uniforms with their different zodiac signs on their uniforms and some in armor.

" Herbs, herbs, herbs, herbs " every word I said is every tap on the basket I'm holding.

I start to walk down the path passing the people, some kids running around with wooden sticks and I just blankly stare at the one child holding a bread and chasing the other kids.

Continuing to walk, I left the village and head down a clear gravel path deep in the forest, I arrived at a specific grassy clearing with flowers and a small stream.

Better start now so I can go home early.

I put down the basket by a tree and get up, approaching the stream, I wash my hands and the pair of shears before starting to collect the herbs I'm able to find what mom wants. Apparently she wasn't satisfied with how some of the herbs are not preserved well, so I'm on herb-collecting-duty.

Sounds fun doesn't it?

I'm being sarcastic, of course it's not, ugh, why do I even bother complaining?, It's practically the most relaxing part of the day. No grams to gossip to, no brothers or sisters to annoy you, and no mom's pulling on my ears.

Gramps and dad always leave early in the morning for work, along with the others for duty and training, as for Cade, he needs to be eighteen to enter his Virgo clan, which is in a month. Once he leaves the house, it'll be only me in the house with mom and grams, while the others are at their work place.

For all that are wondering, there's three sections of the Zodiac Clan, attack, defend, supports. The attack signs are Sagittarius, Taurus, Leo and Aquarius, the defense signs are Cancer, Scorpio, Virgo and Aries. As for supports, they are, Gemini, Libra, Capricorn and lastly Pisces. As you can tell, the family are equally separated to specific roles, though not all of us are happy with it.

To be frank, I'm not happy with it.

I'm born at the end of two Zodiac's, you know when the dates changes and it's Scorpio when it's already Sagittarius, then there's the one that says it's already Sagittarius, Scorpio ended yesterday and blah blah blah.

I'm that person born in between an Aquarius and Pisces, sometimes I wonder if I was supposed to be in the Aquarius clan with Ellis, imagine me with a sword, I'd make a fool out of myself.

But Pisces clan's apparently where I belong, though I'm not going to lie I've been practicing with Ellis's sword in secret, when I get caught mom would yell and so did Ellis about how dangerous it is and more blah blah blah.

They both have the same personality, it's the same when I use my powers, what's the point of having them if I'm not going to use them. Gramps said to be patient with it and so I will, he's old anyways.

I focus back on cutting up some herbs that are fresh and I put them in the basket, which I just notice it's already half full. The day has gone by which is already noon, didn't realize I was out here for more than an hour, distractions by the mind sometimes very soothing.

At least I have myself to listen too.

I cut another stem of a herb and put it in the basket, as I hold another stem, I notice a red stain on the tip of my fingers.
